Stagstock
im looking at getting a desktop comp soonish to replace the laptop. im not an uber l337 gamer so i dont want anything too fancy, just something thats gonna handle online games like runescape in HD.was thinking something like this with the AMD AM2 Athlon x2 5200+. Thoughts and possible upgrades? Please tell me you didn't put Runescape and HD in the same sentence. *Consoles 'HD'* "It's ok... he knows not what he says" Not the gaming console.. consoles as in , calms, soothes, sympathises. lol Edited February 27, 2009 by Stagstock Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/108819-computer-jargon/page/116/#findComment-4450301 Share on other sites

SLED
The green drives are 5400RPM and you do get a slight performance hit from them. I use my PC and Mac for mainly audio recording so I kinda need all the performance I can get. I have black AAKS 640Gb drives in both my PC and Mac and they're pretty impressive performersI wanna to get rid of my 74Gb Raptor which is my XP OS drive and get 2 x 300Gb raptors....... that'll f**kin' dominate in RAID 0. Steve, I might be interested in your 74gb Raptor if it's in good nick and the price is low......PM if you are Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/108819-computer-jargon/page/116/#findComment-4450315 Share on other sites

TALBO
Steve, I might be interested in your 74gb Raptor if it's in good nick and the price is low......PM if you are I'll let you know when I actually get around to removing it. The WD 'AAKS' black drives are actually just as fast as the 36/74Gb raptors except they just don't seek so fast, but STR's are about on par if not faster than the older raptors Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/108819-computer-jargon/page/116/#findComment-4451170 Share on other sites

Getright have a listing for them on their website (whether in stock is another issue) but when you compare product details between the 16mb & 32mb cache on their site, it says the 16mb has a faster internal transfer rate.....huh?? I've had the older WD640AAKS since it was released. Really nice quite fast drive. Had a little scare almost lost over 500gb of data that cannot be replaced (family, pictures video etc etc), so I'm going to fast track that nas box running raid 1 & gigabit lan with a couple 500gb platter 1tb or 1.5tb drives. Will make the jump to SSD the moment they sort the fragmentation issues out.
