Hardly bias... You don't have to be I.T savy to know how to write on a forum these days... In fact, you have to be just plain retarded not to know. haha

i think what shes getting at is that a lot of other people who dig cars in general might not necessarily have internet or even know that said forum exists :D

not everyone has google-fu (it pros excluded heh)

-D

I'm a IT Sys/Network Admin and I own a 32 GTR

Wow, sounds like an AA meeting confession or something .. haha ..

Yeah, there's a guy down at my local service station who has mentioned he has a modified skyline, we've chatted about cars some. When I've mentioned SAU, he doesn't seem to have much interest; I got the impression he didn't really use the web (more into cars than playing around on those silly computers..)

As much as computers/internet is definitely more mainstream than it used to be, lots of people still don't really use it.

(Makes me feel real old to consider I've been online for over 15 years..)

True that. To be honest it can go the other way. Alot of my friends who are true mechinics, wouldn't even know what a forum is. I guess there real country boys though... Where a phone line is a privilage... Speaking of computers, I'm at work now and should be doing some :D Just needed to release some Skyline chat  Off topic, any good place in Adelaide to get some second hand panels for my R33? Completely smashed up the front Monday... Need a aftermarket bumper to.

That’s why I plan to live it up while I can Krishy!

f**k that, you can do both

If I can make enough money  I would hate to have to sell my GTR (when I have one that is!) :(

As per http://www.iinet.net.au/broadband/plans.html & http://www.iinet.net.au/business/broadband/plans.html

For residential users, $129.90 - which includes cutting your regular phone line across to iinet (which will probably save you money anyway).

For business users, $165.90 with the above phone line proviso. As a note, naked dsl plans don't have a 1TB option as yet.

Even their lower down plans are pretty decent for one of the better quality ISPs (in terms of service, support, and their network infrastructure). I tend to recommend people stick with iinet/internode if they can. There are definitely cheaper ISP options out there (think TPG), but they have a poor history in Australia for their network, service, quality, etc.

Any idea how they compare with Adam?

The fact that they do a home line bundle is appealing.

I put my landline number in & it told me that my area (St Marys) supports Broadband 1 up to 8000k

Heres a question for you FROM an I.T professional (just to answer a question with a question)... How do you find Adam. We tend to deal with iinet and internode... Definitely the industry standard (apart from telstra if you really really REALLY rich). I can't say I personally would be able to give you an opinion, apart from the fact that your not going to really notice any speed change. At the end of the day, the limiting factor is how far away you live from the exchange. Internode however, tend to offer better support. I look at different deals all the time, and my opinion changes daily. My recommendation is to go with internode on a non-contracted plan... Capping on internet is not going to last much longer after all

that would be using a telstra leased exchange

put your phone number in here for internode - https://secure.internode.on.net/webtools/in...ode-dsl-finder/

if you're lucky you'll be in an exchange that has internodes own adsl2+ exchanges

won't get as much data as iinet but the service and the network speed has to be experienced to be believed

adam are good too - just not quite as good as node. they have good customer service, their network isn't quite as good as nodes tho

    • Very decent bit of kit. Definitely black it out I reckon.
    • Because people who want that are buying euros. The people with the money to buy the aftermarket heads and blocks aren’t interested in efficiency or making -7 power, they’re making well over 1,000hp and pretty much only drive them at full throttle  best way to way make money is know your customer base and what they want and don’t spend money making things they don’t want.
    • It's not, but it does feel like a bit of a missed opportunity regardless. For example, what if the cylinder head was redesigned to fit a GDI fuel system? It's worth like two full points of compression ratio when looking at modern GDI turbo vs PFI turbo. I'm pretty reliably surprised at how much less turbo it takes to make similar power out of a modern engine vs something like an RB26. Something with roughly the same dimensions as a -7 on an S55 is making absolutely silly power numbers compared to an RB26. I know there's a ton of power loss from things like high tension rings, high viscosity oil, clutch fan, AWD standby loss, etc but it's something like 700 whp in an F80 M3 vs 400 whp in an R33 GTR. The stock TF035HL4W turbos in an F80 M3 are really rather dinky little things and that's enough to get 400 whp at 18 psi. This just seems unwise no? I thought the general approach is if you aren't knock limited the MFB50 should be held constant through the RPM range. So more timing with RPM, but less timing with more cylinder filling. A VE-based table should accordingly inverse the VE curve of the engine.
    • I've seen tunes from big name workshops with cars making in excess of 700kW and one thing that stood out to me, is that noone is bothering with torque management. Everyone is throwing in as much timing as the motor can take for a pull. Sure that yields pretty numbers on a dyno, but it's not keeping these motors together for more than a few squirts down the straight without blowing coolant or head gaskets. If tuners, paid a bit more attention and took timing out in the mid range, managed boost a bit better, you'll probably see less motors grenading. Not to name names, or anything like that, but I've seen a tune, from a pretty wild GT-R from a big name tuner and I was but perplexed on the amount of timing jammed into it. You would have expected a quite a bit less timing at peak torque versus near the limiter, but there was literally 3 degrees of difference. Sure you want to make as much as possible throughout the RPM range, but why? At the expense of blowing motors? Anyhow I think we've gone off topic enough once again lol.
    • Because that’s not what any of them are building these heads or blocks for. It’s to hold over over 1000hp at the wheels without breaking and none of that stuff is required to make power
