its munted, if it boots again be ready to get all the files off it quick smart.

data recovery programs usually only work if the drive works, try booting using Heirin (sp?) it has tools to fix up all major brand hard drives, might get her up n running again

i have a few paper weights like ur drive

I used to work in a computer shop and we used to wrap the drive in newspaper and chuck it in the freezer for 15 minutes or so. This seemed to give them a limited life to do some last minute grabbing.

That trick is limited to only a few models. Basically Seagate and a couple others started using a cheaper substrate for the IC's. Only problem is, once the substrate warmed up to 60'c, it became conductive causing a huge short circuit inside the HDD controller. Putting it in the freezer would cool the chip long enough to transfer any data off and onto a new drive.

Luke I wouldn't even bother trying to boot off it again, you might really stuff it.

Pull it out and stick it into a machine that already has a boot drive and operating system in it then drag files across.

+1 to this. Your drive may only have an issue with the partition table. If you run a scandisk on the HDD from another drive you can sometimes recover it. At the least you'll want to find out if there are any reported errors from the drive itself.

We use that trick as well

but the HDD in antistatic bags and leave it in the freezer over night

and surprise surprise you can get possibly 30-45minutes of proper activity happening and get most data off that

after the 3rd or 4th time the HDD will be just as good as being under a 10 tonne press lol

thats how we destroy our work HDD's b***hes

might just be the MBR, does it get past post at all? if so u could fix it useing the windows disk

if it booted it wouldnt be MBR. MBR either works or doesn't.

Corrupt file tables will cause sporadic boot failure as data is written in places where it shouldnt be, or data is read from corrupted blocks.

^^^ I've got the Logitech Pro9000 web cam - inbuilt mic, HD quality and great for skype HD video calls. Also, has some novelty features that your kids will like eg. a character face overlay that mirrors your expressions and face tracking. But, for something cheaper the Logitech S7500 has similar features to the above except no auto focus and slightly lower mp camera.

hrmm....I really like the twin pack idea and price of the Swann but I also like the hi-res capabilities of the Logitech Pro9000 & Orbit (Sphere) models

My vote is with logitech, since I've been using them for a long time. Theyre rock solid

EB Games are having a massive sale atm fyi. Many games and other items are 2 for $50.

I picked up Assassin's Creed and Crysis Warhead for a grand total of $50 yesterday. Bargain - especially since Assassin's Creed was still priced at $89.94 and Warhead at $49.95.

Now I say good bye to another large chunk of my rarely available free time :D

+1, I have two of these, one for home and the other for work / on the road.

Great unit, never had any issues, GOOD quality video, not like most cams I've seen.

Not cheap, but webcams seem to be an item where you do get what you pay for.

hey Chops we should do another beer with Andrew sometime.

thanks for all the responses guys, I've checked a few reviews and am definitely leaning towards the logitech (buy it once I suppose)....just have to decide whether to get the Pro9000 or Orbit (Sphere)

If anyone here uses steam, just be careful of someone with the username Mor.B.Z.Wojtaz // zagram mixa // and if you get sent a link to here http://newsteams.tk/ - DO NOT LOG IN, its a scam website to steal your steam details. A mate received a message from him saying he had won a free copy of left4dead and GTA4, and to claim log into that site, but hopefully everyone here is smart enough.

Also on a side note, Pete, how are those hard drives?

    • If doing that ^, I'd take the idle up valve out and plug the hole in the pump.
    • You can try capping the power steering idle up valve at both ends if it's old. The valve and the intake manifold. That is something that is known to fail in Toyotas with age and it will suck power steering fluid into the intake and burn it in the engine which can cause issues. Then bleed it again with engine off first. Do like 30+ lock to lock turns with the front wheels off the ground.
    • Hi Brent, I am wondering if you ever worked this out? I have upgraded this unit to a newer one and everything works bar the reverse camera, so i really want to know what plugs are what so I can patch the camera through. many thanks in advance Mike

    • Update:   smoke test all pipes no issues cleaned reservoir   fluid put in ( dexron 3 atf)   steering turn side to side and could hearing  gurgling from steering rack which I assumed was air lock, opened one of the steering rack connections and could see loads of air getting pushed out( not sure if you meant to do that / whether it will re introduce air into system)   anyways, loads of side to side sound was gone. Turned car on, pump was slightly ( barely) wining so turned side to side few more turns and fluid level when car on was almost none in resorvoir which I guess is normal if car is one. Turned car of and fluid was gushing out. Almost 200-300cc was pushed out. Repeated engine off side to side followed  by engine on and same result       going mad now. It seems system is either sucking air in whilst on or there is tons of air which I am not giving it enough time to bleed. Thoughts?   would it work like brake caliper if I open steering rack copper pipes and let gravity pull all air out?   or maybe have a restriction somewhere? What is the red circled item, could that be blocked? It i
