Hey guys, Ive got a really weird problem. I have just changed ISP's and my email doesnt work anymore.... Not 1 setting on the PC was changed (because I use ethernet), and the email I use is Hotmail with Windows Live Mail as the program... WTF?!?

Might be coincidence you say? The bigpond email wont work on my laptop either, which is connected by wi-fi using Windows Mail.

Kinda baffled here :(

1. What Firmware is it running? Should be printed on the top...pray to god it isnt the faulty batch of SD15 drives - they shouldnt have been released in Australia anyway, but grey importers, etc bring them in.

2. Have you tried a different SATA cable and SATA port?

3. Have you tried resetting the BIOS.

4. +1 Does the drive spin up at all, or make any weird noises?

Nothing too much you can really do with hard drives. Sometimes you can change the controller card, but you need one from a working exact same model and firmware drive, even then it isn't guaranteed to work. You can try a data retrieval place, if the data means that much too you, but be prepared to pay ~$1000 or more - They take the drive apart in a special chamber, take the spindle out, and place it into a spindle reader.

He cant get into Windows as the 1tb drive is his C: Drive - The drive Windows is on, and the Bios doesn't see it.

1. Firmware = SN04

2. Yep, and other drives work off of the same cable and port.

3. Nope, but the issue is that sometimes the PC will hang during the POST, and the BIOS always fails to recognise 2 of the other drives when this drive is plugged in = not good and also strange.

4. The drive does spin up, and with no weird noises, so that's something.

I'm fairly sure if I had access to another drive with the same f/w rev (or maybe even different f/w) the board could be swapped and the drive would work.

thats in a coffee time patch ;)

heh nice. they should also put in an 'infidelity timer' so if u take too long playing with the whores, elin nordegren pops up with a golf club and its your job to evade her, make your way to the black SUV and drive out of the gated community to south central LA, where another whore is waiting...

too bad tiger didnt take notice of the timer

Woot.

Uranus is back and waiting for me to fill it again. :D:blink:

Now if only Saturn would work again...

***Probably only Dohmar will know what I'm referring to***

    • I don't know it is due to that. It could just be due to load on track being more than a dyno. But it would be nice to rule it out. We're talking a fraction of a second of pulling ~1 degree of timing. So it's not a lot, but I'd rather it be 0... Thicker oil isn't really a "bandaid" if it's oil that is going to run at 125C, is it? It will be thicker at 100 and thus at 125, where the 40 weight may not be as thick as one may like for that use. I already have a big pump that has been ported. They (They in this instance being the guy that built my heads) port them so they flow more at lower RPM but have a bypass spring that I believe is ~70psi. I have seen 70psi of oil pressure up top in the past, before I knew I had this leak. I have a 25 row oil cooler that takes up all the space in the driver side guard. It is interesting that GM themselves recommend 0-30 oil for their Vette applications. Unless you take it to the track where the official word is to put 20-50w oil in there, then take that back out after your track day is done and return to 0-30.
    • Nice, looks great. Nice work getting the factory parts also. Never know when you'll need them.
    • Thanks @jtha7 I will have a look around tomorrow but it is a prick of a spot. These are some photos i tried taking
    • I take it that the knock retard is from bearings tapping a little tune? Thicker oil is a fragile bandaid. You need a much bigger oil cooler and probably the bigger pump being discussed.
    • Hi @Chupapy i had several leaks from coolant pipes being corroded, i also had one leak on back of the head onto transmission. For me that leak was from the turbo water line. Follow the line to the back of the head The hose and metal pipe had perished these are the best pics I took of it at the time
