By chance has anyone explored the possibilities of mixing 324 x 30 V Spec rotors with the calipers from GTR 296 x 32 rotors?

Just a thought?

Yes this has been done before. However there is much more to increasing your braking perfomance than just larger rotors. Making changes to the front end only will, in all probability reduce your braking performance because the fronts will then lock without the back brakes doing sufficient work.

The first point of call for upgrading brake performance is pads and fluids. Can I suggest looking at the Ferodo DS2500/2000 series pads & some Motul RBF4-600 fluid. This will give you a good first gain.

After that you then can start looking at calipers/rotors/pads/master cylinders. But you need to do it as a complete package as a one off gain in one of these items can result in negative effects to the brake system as a whole.

Have a look at the foolowing website:

Look under the technical information for a comprehensive discussion of many of the issues you will encounter. ;)

From my starting point, I have already replaced the stock calipers & 258 x 10mm rotors with DR30 calipers & 290 x 10 rotors on the rear.

Initially, I am going with the stock DR fronts 274 x 22 and a 1 inch master cylinder.

My rear pads are EBC black & front EBC Green. Brake fluid has not been thought of as yet, but was considering Dot 4 to start with and maybe Dot 5 after the second upgrade.

This enquiry is about a later upgrade. As I have a set of BNR32 fronts, 296 x 32 rotors & 4 spot calipers, but just thinking of substituting the 324 x 30 rotor to increase leverage.

Do you think I'm doing it right?

Dont use the GTR caliper...its cheaper and easier to use the R32 GTST caliper with the 324mm rotor.

And the problems described above are not a problem if you get your pad selection right. Comp 2 and Comp 9 pads work really nicely, or perhaps with teh RB74s front but strangely i find this does not work as well even though the numbers would suggest otherwise.

In about 3 weeks i will have a few sets for Z32, R32GTST, S14/15 adaptors for 324mm rotors for a few friends cars...i may geta few spaere ones made up?!?!

Im going to try a GTR caliper with a 343 FPV rotor just for shits and giggles...will do a few track days then get back to you all about how it is going :/
