ian
I'm sure we had a post that discussed this, I just can't find it... Had mine for over 6 months now, so have got the longer term numbers.. Around town it's doing 14l/100km, and on the country drives (with the cruise control on) it's doing 10.5l/100km if I leave it on about 100km/h. That's for a rs four S (2001) with a good cruise control (top of the range rostra), and no mods. Ian So, summarising the posts below - AMS - 300 to 350kms per tank Humble 350-370kms per tamk, once 410 AlexCim 530km fom 55l on a cruise ie 10.3l/100kms wagon 18l/100kms muck 14-16l /100kms for city, 11l/100km for country beastien 400kms per tank around town ska 400kms per tank around town Tangles 380-410kms per tank around town Sydneykid 14.5l/100kms in peak traffic, 13.0l/100k not peak, 11k/100k country terminal 350kms per tank sy300 14-15l/100kms around town, 10-11l/100kms country 3intheBack 12.5l/100kms mix city/country GoldZilla 13-15l/100kms thedriver 12.5l/100kms mixed (but in cantberra) In summary, around town in traffic you should use 14 to 15l per 100kms, and out in the country you should get 10 to 11l per 100kms. If you are outside those bands either 1) you've got a problem with the car! or 2) you're hooning quite a bit.. CruiseLiner
mine has been real economical lately but with the 25/auto i remember around 350-70km to a tank max, and i never really drove the 26 casually when i used it so only time i remember was 180km from a full tank, but that was thrashing it the whole time they aint very economical cars thats for sure, but remember the 1800kg is alot to pull. Victory
I go through so much fuel that I should buy shares in Caltex! I live in Wollongong and work in Sydney a trip of 85 km each way. My R33 GTS-T Series II gets 10 l per 100 km when I take it very easy and this drops to 14 l per 100 km when the fun starts. My R33 GTR V-Spec gets 15 l per 100 km when I take it easy (which is very hard to do) and this drops to 18 l per 100 km when you start to have some fun. It is just the price you pay for driving a "Line". Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/108945-petrol-usage/#findComment-2007178 Share on other sites

If that's true, then I want the secrets to that when you figure out what it is! That's roughly 10.3l/100kms - I would almost kill for that! Was this pretty much constant speed cruising? AlexCim
Well, there was a lot of highway driving, yes, and it was in line (so air, drag etc maybe?) BUT there was plenty of seaside roads which go up and down and side to side....i wasnt going too slow either. SOO, my hypothesis is.....I dont know In the hills, pushing it HARD HARD HARD, i manage to clock up 22L/100 A tip to everyone here though, if on a highway just jump behind a bus/truck and slip steam them. For about 10km i was behind a truck and we were both on cruise control perfect, the car was about 20 vac just cruising at 100km/h and every time i or he drifted, i could feel the massive walls of air....it was pretty cool (yet, somewhat dangerous) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/108945-petrol-usage/#findComment-2007311 Share on other sites
Ska
For the brief time I had my car on the road, yes it is becoming hard to remember I can now sympathise with brad , anyway I used to get 400kms out of a tank. BUT I know it can do a lot better as when the pfc went to be tuned last they found that there was a block in the radiator, so the workshop tuned it mega rich, just to be on the safe side. That was before I bought the car, and just before I bought it, a new radiator was put in, and I was promised a power tune by the previouse owner/workshop, but because of my wedding and other things I just didnt get time to take it in for it. Then on the 20th of December the rear upper contorl arm on the passengers side decided to break whilst I was slowly going around a corner, which then threw me into the gutter and a HUGE bush on the other side of the road, causing about $10k's worht of damage, thank GOD for insurance! So now I am moving to Rockhampton, and the car is still in being repaired, to which I have been told it should be ready by the 24th, which is good because we are driving up to Rocky on the 25th..... So why have I typed out my whole life story, because I will be driving just over 600kms very shortly with a (hopefully) properly tuned pfc, so I'll post my results when I get there, and get net access Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/108945-petrol-usage/#findComment-2007546 Share on other sites
Tangles
So now I am moving to Rockhampton Good luck with the move.... I get 380-410kms before the orange fuel light comes up, and can go further still, say to 450kms with confidence. Thats with peak-hour city driving. Sydneykid
Averages for the last 2 years; Sydney, peak hour traffic = 14.5 L/100K Sydney, non peak hour traffic = 13.0 L/100K Highway, cruising at 110 kph = 11.0 L/100K I check the economy on each tank fill and I have tried every brand of 98 ron fuel, makes no difference. Gunna try some 100 ron next week. cheers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/108945-petrol-usage/#findComment-2008042 Share on other sites
Terminal
I've been using 100 RON for a few weeks now, and i have found the car to be a little more responsive and also uses a bit less when i put my foot down. i don't have to drive extremely careful now to still get the same 350km our of a tank. one i get my manual and a Powerfc i expect to get a better result, but that's just a guess Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/108945-petrol-usage/#findComment-2008124 Share on other sites
sy300
I get around 14-15l/100km around town. 10-11l/100km open road (100-110km/h) I have got over 600km on a tank (fuel light coming on). I don't think the economy is too bad for a heavy, turbo-charged auto. Ska
I think my main problem with highway driving, is the nismo gears are shorter than stocker r33 gears, I only say this because in my old r33, at 100kph in 5th I would sit on around 2k to 2.5k rpm, where the same with the stagea it sits on 3k to 3.5k rpm Doesnt sound like much of a difference but times it by an hour or five and it adds up. Terminal
might also be because the load is greater? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/108945-petrol-usage/#findComment-2008518 Share on other sites
3intheBack
Terminal - you've got serious economy problems - I just hope there not terminal... SKA - 3k revs should be giving 120k of speed, yours sounds seriously low geared. Give us a wave when you pass thru Gympie. My last tank was 520 k's with 65L - 8k/l or 12.5l/100k This was 300k of highway at 110-120, rest was city driving and 10 mins showing a friend how the rev limiter works. All this with the equivalent weight of 5 adults. Not too shabby I thought. I was averaging 150k per quarter tank on the guage until I started caining it a bit.
