i got the blue japanese one but i don't have the green australian one. i also got a VIN number sticked on my car. i've renewed my rego last year with no problems at all so i guess my car actually got a compliance plate but the dealer forgot to stick that on?

guys guys guys

please don't get me wrong on this trying to help.

One of three ways it can get regoed. One way can be without a plate if that person allowed to do the compliance work under the corrrect SEVS scheme which is due to be replaced in May by RAWS is as a test and evaluation vehicle in order for that person to be able to do compliance work on that model of vehicle ie Skyline R33 models etc. The CONDITION of this vehicle being able to be registered without a plate as a test and evaluation vehicle is that a compliance plate has to be affixed after a 12 month period has expired..... Registration will show as normal, but the vehicle cannot be sold without the plate.

I have been in this situation twice before had two vehicles done liek this and it took me over three years to get a compliance plate on one vehicle two on another from the dodgy compliancer who never went ahead and got compliance on this model. Only at last moment before a court appearance did compliance plates magically appear.

2) Personal import - blue plate

3) SEVS import complianced with green plate.

"there is no way anyone can forget to affix a compliance plate" it cannnot be regoed without it unless done in the above way. Excuse my harshness but sounds like someone is selling a porky - call him again and tell him it is a large fine to sell a vehicle without a plate and you want one affixed otherwise you will go to the authorities or take legal action..

OMG ....

nothing wrong with Rebodie vehicles... a rebodie does not have a plate fitted(although some times the registry office gives them back to you and i have seen them fitted, however technically they shouldnt be fitted)...personal import plates are YELLOW in colour

and your vin is a imported vehicle vin anyway not a rebodie one.

Also if a rebodie vehicle has no plates..its not against the law to sell it......all the above are facts not some crap i have made up... they are the rules!!!! And there is nothing saying that a car that was bought in for compliance cant be registered as a rebodie then sold without a plate.....making a mockery out of all that sh_it that is written at the bottom of your import approvals.... Id say that if they tried to "do" you for doing this...in a court of law...youd win

  • 1 year later...
i beleive that under the Raws setup ..the colours of the plates winn change....i think they will be magenta in colour

totally true,

I have a series 2 r33 that was only bought into the country in the last couple of months, i was imported under the RAWS thing ...

I have the normal blue plate from nissan, and a magenta type colour plate stating the compliance number, date, type etc etc

can take pics if anyone is really interested ...

In NSW there is no legal requirement to keep a compliance plate fitted after your car has been registered.

Contact DOTARS and find out if you car has been complied in the past. If it has, they will re-issue a plate for ~$40.00.

Keep in mind that you will have trouble selling your car without a compliance plate.
