For Sale Lady Owner

My wife is selling her 2000WRX .

Just wondering why people looking at buying a car may consider this to be a bad thing. I have had people ring up and as soon as they hear that it's a lady owner they hang up or loose interest. I personally dont think of this to be a bad thing because the car is less likely to have been thrashed or given a hard time. It is also more likely to have been serviced when it's due and looked after. No doubt there are also females that are into the car scene and know more about their cars than some males .

If you could give me an honest answer why you wouldn't buy a performance car from a female then please post it

People probably think the opposite of what u think. Things like maintenance has been negelcted ie - servicing not done regularly etc...how many stories are there of the motor dying due to no oil change, or water being refilled etc.

Sure it hasnt been thrashed, but maybe just not serviced.

Yeah - that pretty much sums it up, athough it's a bit of a stereotype.

Friends g/f had a coolent leak in her car, and the temp gauge was slowly rising over a period of time - she didn't even think to check the coolent level and kept driving it. Anyway one day she went on a longer trip than usual, and it rose right up to the red, but she didn't even pull over, just kept going until the poor car did a head and she had to pull over... but yeah, unfortunatly most people have probably heard a story or two like that.

maybe cos so many people say that their cars is owned by a lady when they sell it.

If i were buying it id think that it was urs and ur just saying its ur wifes car just to get a good price. but meh

Must admit, have heard of story's like the coolant and oil type, but with a older owner {28yr's} and higher spec vehicle {WRX, skyline etc} you would assume that the car would be looked after and maintained.

Well that was my thought's anyway .

By the way, were asking $22,500 ono with subaru service history, no mods all the goodies like w/tint keypad alarm, 6stck cd new disc's rotor's etc.

also a lot of kid's these days say "one lady owner" and tell their mum to handle the sale, when they've spent the last 3 years thrashing the car to within an inch of its life.

Personally I don't give a rats arse what the gender of the seller is, however their age and attitude does affect it. Although if the ad says "one lady owner" and the lady dosen't handle the sale or tell me things about the car, I become sceptical quite quickly as to the true owner of the car.

Women drive hard and do neglect maintenance irrespective of age.

Not all women but most, some are savy most are not.

The majority of males will want to spoil his car, neglect flowers for the missus so they can spend another 10-20 on synthetic oil or a set of rb74 pads.

Either way.. A cars owner doesn't bother me, it all comes down to the price and what it comes with. Mods are expensive, gearbox's and diff's are not so much.

I'm a senior tech for a very prestiges car company and Two things I know as general rules

1. People with money don't give a f#$k about their cars because they usually onsell before the cars out of warrenty! Seriously it sometimes even makes me mad and repulsed at the state of these so called upper class peoples cars

2. Womem are the worsed! they will hear the most minute little squeak when the motors banging, the wheel bearings are whinning so loud it hurts and as always the brakes are metal on metal - "Oh, I was wondering what that noise was!" even when there are brake pad sensors with a big red lights and text on the dash telling you to get them checked.

Again this is only a generalisation but one derived from many years in the industry

The end fact is that a lot of women drive with out any thought for their vehicle. jump in, start, go and stop. Not much considerstion for anything that sounds or feels different, warming the car up, wether the maintainence is up to date and I personally know of heaps of girls whos service is well over due but they can't afford it this week because they have a $300 hair dresser appiontment.

I also believe that girls are very heavily hard done by due to the masses of willing mechanics to rip them off at everyturn which would make me shy away from the whole thing as well. Especially when all they're interested in is getting from A to B.

That said, let me say - WOMEN IN THE CAR SCENE IS GREAT and i always give support to any person that even just wants to learn how to check levels and tyre pressures on a regular basis. Cutos to those people out there
