Hey all,

It was a good weekend all in all. Great people at the event all weekend and a great experience getting to do some new things in the car. I know I'd sure love another crack at that Thunderdome. That was an experience. All the NDSOC guys, the 300zx guys, all the guys and cars out of the MPC workshop, and everyone else we spent the weekend with were fantastic.

Big well done to Scotsman on coming 2nd considering there were 5 GTR's in the event and Chris's easily had the least amount of work done to it. No mistakes made and on the last event when he had to beat me he came through with the goods. And well done to Brisby for being at least half decent in the navigating job. Unlike some people.....

The one thing for me the weekend has really showed is how much our DECA weekends have improved the driving skills of both Chris and I. Basically in the drag race event I was only the 7th fastest car (12.0) and Chris the 9th fastest (12.4) - including us both being comfortably beat by Geoff in the EVO but in the tighter motokhana stuff Chris and I were able to win events. So it really has shown that learning the driving skills is more important than HP. And if we can just make our cars go as fast in a straight line as those pesky cheater EVO's we might be able to cause even more troubles in the future.

But hopefully this is an event that can be improved upon and developed further in the future as it was good fun but with a lot more potential possible - and priced to be accessable to pretty much everyone.

And remember "Teh GT-R can Nevar Lose!" (except to those pesky Evo's)

Superb effort guys. Great pics James. I got a few but nothing you havent already covered.

Mav - dont forget to put the "how the hell do I drive this russian contraption" pic up that I took :P

This is very true and was very amusing....

Trying to work out how and the hell you put the LADA in reverse... I gave up and just managed to do a turn going forwards... best thing was the guy in the garage next to us asking it i would like a push back :cool:

Once James told me how to reverse the Russian contraption i found it rather easy... :D

Guys, farken excellent results.

Goes to show what you can do if you know how to point the car!

Seems the Khana's are paying big dividends.

Wait till the Drag Day :P

I'll show you its as much about HP as the driver :cool:

You just need to not be afraid of the limiter before the launch.

I think there were 3 cars that ran an 11.7. The purple GTR from MPC just pipped out Beaumont in the EVO and the mustang I think. And I think the other 2 GTR's ran 11.8's. But there were 5 cars in the 11's and the Porsche Turbo ran a 12.00.

Congrats Chis and Andrew on some fantastic driving. Was great to see you guys beating cars with clearly more $$ spent on them.

I had an awesome weekend (although it oculd have been a little cooler).

Thanks to everyone who kept me company/entertained all weekend.

Now all you need to do is find out how to beat the pesky EVO next year :geek:

What MPH did you run dude?

I reckon you'll get easily under 11.70 with practice :geek:

well i have known about troys navigating skills for some time now. he has previously navigated for my father from the back seat (and half of the front seat, and half out the window) of a camary with varying degrees of success. so it was only a matter of time before he could step up and point someone in the general direction of the podium. good work old son.

Don't be completely suprised if there is another one before the years end. There is no reason it only needs to be an annual event. Basically they have the facilities and the costs mean they could easily run more than 1.

      Both windows operate normally while the engine is running but start to sag as soon as I switch off.  Does anyone know of reasonably priced replacements or other brands that will fit?

      Actually PowerFC is probably the easiest to get basic data from, it comes with a hand controller and display so you don't need to remember to pack a laptop every time you drive. It also has a PC based viewing/logging option if required. Nissan used consult on these because back in the mid 80s, ODB was just a glint in a standard's body's eyes.  They switched to OBD shape around 2000 (my 2001 Cima had OBD shaped but not OBD compliant port) With the standard ECU there is a cable and software available to give basic data too, I think it is called Nissan Data Scan or s

If you had the information formatted this way: Space from R34 GTT hub to outer arch = 100mm Space from R34 GTT inner hub to nearest suspension arm = 90mm. (making this up) Buying a wheel that was advertised as Enkei RPZ5 Diameter 18in Width 9 Distance to arch = 84mm Distance to suspension arm = 76mm 100% of people would know instantly if it fits. They would absolutely also know instantly how close it fits too, and no questions would need to be asked. You would know you would have 16mm from the guard and 14mm from the suspension arm.

      Ah ok, for example for the apexi ecu I heard that it's pretty limited with the information it can give you. Also not sure why Nissan used the consult port over the obd2, what the idea there was.

      Diagnosing with and without is mostly the same. You need to know, as Duncan asked, and what conditions. Car hot, cold, idling, driving, if while driving what rpms, is when you're varying, or is it when held constant.   From there it's understanding what can be causing it. Starting with pretending all of the sensors are correct. Which means if it's going rich, why would it be thinking more air is going in than it is, and under what conditions. So things like if only when under boost, it could be be a loose intake piping joint. It's just understanding the system, and understanding when/how the problem occurs, and then if it's only occuring in specific scenarios, what can be causing it.   ECU specifically, if it's aftermarket, it'll have software you can use, for the Skylines on factory ECU, there is Nissan Consult you can use. Most ECUs have a way to get data from them.
