Is A Pod Air Filter Better Than Box Air Filter?

Hey guys just curious because im planning in buying an air filter soon but i cant decide which one would i benefit more in.

i have a stock r33 gts25t box air filter so it has already its own plastic tubing.

but if i were to buy a pod filter i would have to remove the plastic container at the top to attach it but then that would stop sucking in the cool air from outside.

would that really make much of a difference if were to put a pod then the box filter?

i thought the whole purpose was to be able to suck in as much cool air as possible but i see gtr's with 2 pod filters with no piping... how does that work?

can anyone tell me what the difference between the Apexi Dual pod and the box K&N due to performance

In my view:

Stock airbox with good panel filter > unshielded pod

Stock airbox with good panel filter = shielded pod

Stock airbox with good panel filter < CAI'd pod

I personally feel shielded is better than CAI box...CAI box has a more restricted airflow
