Who Works In The City And Whats Some Nice Places To Eat Out At?

Recommended Posts

I went to a place in the city last year for yum cha... dunno what it was called... but it was huge!! everytime i thought that was it, you kept walking and there was more rooms and more ppl !!

dunno what the food was like... i didn't eat...it was lunchtime after a hens night... i was not well.

(place we stayed at was pacific international apartments - it was out the back and across the road of there).

LOL @ Adam... Speak as though you have some Asian blood in you my friend ;)

Likewise I'm my own boss; so yeah wouldn't mind a nice "client" lunch :O Just like how I took 2 hours to get a haircut yesterday and brushed that off as a "client meeting"

Mmm.. funny how I came back looking totally different

hahaha Adam..... Golden Century (or is it golden harbour? cant remember, it's in the main strip of chinatown next to the big chinese gate things) doesn't have attitude for me any more 'cause I only go with my g/f and she's chinese, plus I usually sling them the odd gesture in chinese...

It sucks though, if you and your friends aren't chinese and don't speak chinese most chinese restaurants give you a bit of the cold shoulder.. I feel like punching them when they do that, it's so rude

I remember when my physics teacher at school came to class one day to tell us about his Yum Cha experienc...

I swear boys, there is the ASIAN line and the WHITE-FOLK line...

Yes, I know exactly what you mean... most of the time when we go Yum Cha there is no queue coz you just go straight to the manager :O So lucky we're family friends with the owners of the New Marigold

One time this woman comes up with her trolley and we're asking her about all the stuff on the top which we could see and she makes a big thing about not speaking english then as she pushed the trolley away I noticed some bowls of yellow wobbly on the bottom shelf and I whispered to my friends at the table, "What the f**k is that?"

She turns round right then and goes, "TAPIOCA PUDDING!"

Kel votes 1 for lunch at Sky Phoenix- sensational food.

For lovers of dumplings, you CAN'T go past Sea Bay on Pitt St (heading down towards Central- same block as word square). Doesn't look like too much from the outside, but the food is sensational, the owner is a sweeheart and the food is cheap.

You'll also get the best Chicken Noodle Chilli Soup from the takeaway in the arcade running near the Commonwealth Bank (same block as Sea Bay). Can't remember the name of the place but you'll pick it by the queues lining up in rush hour and the tables outside with people slurping from bowls!

Chicken burgers from Ogalo on Liverpool St also rock :turned:

sky phoenix is quite good. my friends parents own the place, and their daughter works there. i haven't really liked the food at marigold. i thought it was pretty ordinary to be honest.

there is some nice food down my way (circular quay). very nice japanes place Masuya on oconnel st. definately worth going to.
