Johnny Cash
Heya all, Just wondering, with the 32, how much oil to put in gearbox and diff. People seem to be buying oils in 4L amounts, but I've heard that you only need 2.5L. I was looking to buy Penrite oils for LSD and gearbox, but these only come in 2.5L amounts. I don't want to have to buy 2 of each, as I'll end up with 5L. So, if I need 4L, i would rather buy 4L. Thanks. MerlinTheHapyPig
well, 5 litres should be about right! so just get 2x2.5litres bottles, you'll use approx 4-4.5litres Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/109539-how-much-oil-to-use/#findComment-2030697 Share on other sites
Busky2k
You wouldnt want to be using diff oils in your gearbox, trust me on that one. They are friction modified for 2 different purposes. MerlinTheHapyPig
Most decent Gear oils can be used for both. Just check when you buy whatever oil you're planning on, it might be better idea to get specifically labelled "gearbox" and "limited slip" oils to be safe though. But as long as the oil is GL-5 with friction modifiers for limited slip use, it will be fine for both..... Using the Redline oils as an example -- which i strongly recommend, you can use Redline Lightweight Shockproof in both gearbox and diff! and is fantastic stuff!!
