hey all,

just bought a Velo GP-90 race seat and need to get some custom rails for my s13. I was thinking of going to meridian motorsports, but just curious as to everyones experiences with different places, and what my best option may be.

If I could get rails from another manufacturer that fir that'd be ideal as it would save the hassle, does anyone happen to know if they anybody elses rails fit??

thanks in advance

Dane

you should be able to get bride rails that bolt straight in for an s13.

or go a custom set up with generic rails.

either way it will cost more than the seat did :P

I've got some Bride bottom mount's at the moment, but this is a side mount type seat. I tested a VL type bride side mount rail today, and the Velo is about an inch too wide as it's an XL (XXL??) version

this is going to suck...

you can try centreline suspension in thomastown, they put Roys seat in.. but I seem to remember it was a bitch of a seat to get in so I dont know if he scared them off doing it again

Thats the thing, they went to a lot of trouble and was happy that they did a good job, but the seating position wasnt that great, i couldnt reach the wheel, pedals and gearshift comfortably...and i sat too high.

They did good work, and would have perhaps been fien for another driver, but it didnt have the adjustability for me to get comfortable

Dane, look at getting the Bride 'Low Max' seat rail for s13, got mine from RMS motorparts in Mitcham, they will bolt straight in and u can use universal side mounts to mount seat to rail....

Really??

That's really great to hear!! I'll go in and see Henry on saturday and see if I can trial fit the seat to it, and if it works I'llgrab one. Thanks for that Jack, you may just have made my day!

:)

Dane, after many headaches and one custom rail fabricated which wasn't adjustable, the Bride rail was the perfect solution, wish I had bought it from the start, would have saved $300..... From memory the Bride rail cost $250, Henry is a top bloke and usually has a lot of stock....

Did u buy side mounts with the seat? If not stop by Revolution Race Gear (up the road from RMS) and buy some universal side mounts (around $70), and ur laughing...

Took me about an hour to mount the seat to the rail, as I had to get the right position, coz I'm short  ...

Cheers,

Jack

P.S Coz ur a short prick like me you'll like how LOW the 'LOW MAX' rail sits, my head doesn't touch the roof even with a helmet on.....

Cool, this sounds like it may solve my dramas as well. Where is this place?

Yeah Henry's a great guy, I've bought a few things through him now and he always offers great service, and is really nice to boot

The seat only came with one sidemount (bought it second hand), so I'llpop into revolution before I go to RMS and pick up some side mounts.

This low max sounds the business! That's why I love the bride that I have now, as it sits me about an inch lower than the stock rails, just enough room for a helmet

Also, you wouldn't happen to know how wide the bottom of your seat is do you?? I've just measuredmine and it's about 470mm, which is why none of the bride side mount rails fit...

thanks Jack :(

Dane, can't remember, but it's definetly wider than normal...

You wont have any probs, especially if u buy the RR side mounts....

Just make sure u got a drill, tape measure and marker to make sure u mount the seat straight..... Quite easy actually....

    • CTIS (Central Tire Inflation System) has existed since the 80's. I'm looking into buying a Hummer H1 and they generally included it.
    • My idle is set at 950rpm though - Moving the timing around 20 degrees is not really what I'd call a calm idle. That said... neither is chop, by definition. The LS ECU likes to adjust timing to hold idle as opposed to air. It'd work, but generally speaking there'd be a discrepancy in the base idle and the IACV would want to move the timing around anyway to maintain said idle. I think I'm just going to keep the timing steady anyway. Preserve my engine mounts.  My aircon is now officially regassed. As the guy was reversing I noticed my reverse lights do not operate, along with my reverse cam. This is a bit distressing, because 100% of guides talk about which wire to connect to backup cams as "the goes with the [other color] wire". Often when doing conversions. Unfortunately the R34 colour wires aren't documented Unfortunately I had a T56 Magnum gearbox with it's reverse switch, which also isn't documented. Unfortunately there's definitely not documentation for people with both of these in the one car. Unfortunately I forgot. After many hours of this, I have a reverse cam and reverse lights again. The wire going through the trans tunnel to the reverse switch had broken. Upon inspection, it looks like this one wire had about 7 spade terminals and extensions in it.. for reasons I cannot possibly comprehend. I also spent the 750 hours required to clean up the wiring behind my head unit which now looks like this: This is a monumental improvement relative to what used to be there WRT triple gauges, head unit, traction control, wideband controller, and whatever the f**k OEM stuff still exists there in various states of connectivity/needed. Next step is to check in at the Exhaust shop to see/confirm how much clearance I have, to decide what mid mufflers or 'resonators' (which are just straight through, narrower mufflers) I can add and hopefully cut out a lot of exhaust leaks, pinhole, v-band or otherwise. But first step will be to 'take a look' before the next step.
