OK guys ive got around 2k to spend on my Skyline

Current engine mods that came with the car are:

3inch Stainless cat back

Pod filter (not heat shield)

BOV

Now this is what im looking at spending my money on. Please give other sugestions.

3'inch twin dump pipe from Bosimporting $450

3' catco cat (just the $280 one) from Bosimporting

Oil catch can $70

Just Jap intercooler and kit $550

Boost gauge $70

This totals around $1400 plus freight.

Other things i was thinking about getting are.

Please give ideas

Thanks :)

if you are purcashin from bos (spilt dump pipe)-make sure the sensors on the pipe have been relocated as his first batch had problems.. Not to sure if he has fixed it or not yet..

Or i would purchase CES spilt dump pipe.. Costs a lot more, but probably worth it..

Why do you need a catch can right now?? You arent gettin any detonations right??

So i would finish exhaust off from turbo back, with hiflow cat.. I would also get cam gears(exhaust)..

Front mount, heatsheild for your pod (i might be sellin mine in a months time or so as i wanna get a carbon fibre one lol), then boost controller.. Also a new fuel pump will help!!

get a power fc and tune it..

Then if you got money left over, i would then buy small things, like boost guage etc etc..

thats all you bascailly need to get 200rkw..

I was going to get a catch can just because there cheap and i beleive it stopes all the crap going into your intake?? There is no detonations.

With the cam gear would i need a after market computer? if not would i need to get the car on the dyno to tune it with the cam gear?? where can i get a cam gear from?

My idea is to get all the mods done up towards getting a Power FC. As i cant afford a Power FC now and tune.

Cheers.

I would buy a stock airbox with a decent panel filter to replace the pod filter. Pod filter is going to cost you performance in terms of day to day driving.

A guy on this forum has made up some boxes that fully seal the pod up, and the air is fed through the stock snorcle. There around $120 each... This is what i was thinking of getting. i guess it would be similar to the stock box and panel filter?

^^ yup thats what i got, from mr_crust.. usin stock snorkle..

you can get cam gears anywhere.. www.nismo.com.au justjap.. any sponsers..

It will be tricky to put in yourself, so when you are ready for powerfc tune, get that mechanic to put it in for you..

However theres a few threads on here about it..

It does gain 10-15kw.. so huge power increase -- i have been told.

The above makes a lot of sense. The key is in fitting a Power FC, freeing up of exhaust and a suitable boost controller. I'm not sure what type of turbo impeller you have (ceramic or metal),metal is another key in this department as running over 1 bar with ceramic spells trouble. You will need metal impellers if running over 1 bar. Of course a larger intercooler would be nice. But as we know with Skylines they can suck up a lot of moola ($$$)

If you have stock turbo this is all you need!!

Intercooler $550 or go R34 SMIC for under $200 (if plan for bigger things later go the FMIC)

3" Dump/front $250 or pay extra to go split

high flow cat $180 (BATMBL Catco 3")

Boost controller $30 (from forums)

Stock BOV $30 (sell your aftermarket one for $)

Stock Airbox & Snorkel $50

High flow panel (pipercross) $60

Sell your POD

Raise boost to 10-11psi.

Buy PFC $1000

Tune $300-$400 (get the tuner to do one power run on base map to see that is running rich, or check fuel rail pressure to ascertain condition of stock pump, before he gets down the track of tuning) Stock fuel pump should be ok!

You will net about 180+rwkw of very nice responsive power without drawing attention to yourself.

All up about $2-2.5k

    • Has equal chance of cleaning an AFM and f**king an AFM. I think you can work out what happened. When the Hitachi ECU sees the AFM die and goes into the associated limp mode, then it will start and run just fine, because it ignores the AFM and just runs on idle maps that will do what it needs to get it going. But there is no proper load signal, so that's about all it can do. My suggestion? If you don't want to go full aftermaket ECU, then get some R35 GTR AFM cards and some housings to put them in, in the stock location, and Nistune the ECU. Better to do a good upgrade than just replace shitty 40 year old tech with the same 40 year old tech.
    • So my car was recently having trouble starting on initial crank, I would need to feather the gas for it to start up but besides that it would start and run fine. So I clicked the idle air control valve (with throttle body cleaner) and cleaned the MAF sensors (with MAF cleaner). The start up issue was fixed and now the car turns over without the assist of the throttle, but the car is in limp mode and wont rev past 2.5k RPM. From what I understand the IACV would not put the car in limp mode, so I am to believe it is the MAF sensors, but it was running fine before and now I cant get it out of limp mode. I cleaned the MAF made sure the o rings were seated properly. Made sure the cables were plugged in properly, the cables also both read the same voltage. Does anybody know why this is or what could be causing this or how to get it out of limp mode?
    • Ooo I might actually come and bring the kids, however will leave the shit box home and take the daily
    • Thanks. Yeah I realised that there's no way I'd be able to cover the holes with the filler, it would just fall through. Thanks again @GTSBoy!
    • That was the reason I asked. If you were going to be fully bodge spec, then that type of filler is the extreme bodge way to fill a large gap. But seeing as you're going to use glass sheet, I would only use that fibre reinforced filler if there are places that need a "bit more" after you've finished laying in the sheet. Which, ideally, you wouldn't. You might use a blob of it underneath the sheet, if you need to provide some support from under to keep the level of your sheet repair up as high as it needs to be, to minimise the amount of filler you need on top. Even though you're going bodge spec here, using glass instead of metal, the same rules apply wrt not having half inch deep filler on the top of the repair. Thick filler always ends up shitting the bed earlier than thin filler.
