Steering Going Stiff, On And Off.

Morning All,

Today driving to work my steering was starting to go stiff every so often then loosen back up. I checked the HICAS fluids (in the boot, drivers side) and the fluid is just below the minimum level. 2 questions...

1. What fluid goes in the bottle???

2. Hicas, i thought, only kicked in at about 70km+ and i thought it only turned the wheels by 1degree. Or is that the ATESSA?? if i am right then why would the whole steering stiffen up? help!

have you checked your powersteering fluid???

I dont know why.fluid maybe?

Ask ''jago'',with r31,about his recent experience's with his power steering.He ended up having to get a whole new rack.I think that he had some hydraulic issues.

ive noticed that the 33's have a problem at idle when thrown from lock to lock realy quickly.On th eturnback from one side it is a bit stiff but only for less than a second.

I had the same problem but in a r32 gtst strangely it turned out to be the battery, changed the battery and it stopped

slipping belt? stuffed p/s pump, stuffed p/s rack, plus a couple of other possibilities.
