It's the black one. The engine numbers are different because it's on different block from engine builder as has 86mm forged pistons. Engine definitely not stolen just the legal process that has to be done now. As said earlier no problems at all with work/mod side of business very good prompt quotes always let me know what was going on. With re-spray job it was organised through them with a russian guy that knows my misses brother so got pretty good price as did good job. NOw that waiting 4-5 weeks my misses has agreed to let me get 260 pon cams, air intake and Water/meth kit installed and re-tuned. Hopefully car will then be around 350kw.Decided to get done now as car off road anyway. That has put a smile back on my face and did have plenty of beers yesterday to get over the bad news. At least when I finally get car shouldn't be without it again and will be 100%happy with mods, performance and looks. I guess anything that good/special is worth the wait. I'm not really pissed off anymore as now exactly what's going on now and whats another 5 weeks when already waited 6 months.

My good man, always get these 2 things in writing, cost and time. If they refuse these details, for WHATEVER reason, it's an indication of dodginess.

No matter what business, they can always estimate a cost and time.

Even if they quote pessimistically, if gives you a guideline to go by.

And if they aren't heeded to promptly, issue legal proceedings. Simple.

Might sound like a lot of hassle, but it prevents the hassle you're having now. And don't listen to anyone who says you can't get a cost and time quote, because you can - in ANY business. Trust me, this is my business!

Yeah that works if you want to be quoted some stupidly high price.

Ultimately

Interest...

hahahaha, :)

was semi-dealing with them a couple years back, never did any real business with them tho...

oh well. sounds like a real beast you'll have on your hands there! Cop with a 350kw R33 GTR? you part of the Drug squad?

No drug sqad for me, will definetely be going to TMU the imports worst enemy. Was surpsied in a good way that the TMU members where I want to go don't have it in too much for import driver's at all. Just the way the person drives the car and their attitude determines their approach not the car.(Obviously not Knox.) Well it will be one more good traffic cop for import drivers when I go there. Except if they have a TO4Z turbo then I will have to EPA them out of Jealousy..Just kidding.

Is this the black R33 gt-r with the clear cam covers with the HKS cam gears?

I borrowed an airbox from this place on friday.

That's the one. Just needs the GT spoiler re-fitted and detailed and I think will look pretty sharp. What did you think of it?

Yeah it looked really nice. I kinda like it without the spoiler though.

Too bad they are stuffing you around pretty bad.

Saw them working on a Porsche when i was there, but they seemed to be taking their time with everything.

thats no good mate...i'm the member a few people have reffered to as having issues there as well...

wasn't anything i could do, and i wasnt really up for rattling cages when they have my car....

got it eventually, and would take it there again for mods etc, if it weren't for the delays i experienced that is...

and i think i saw your car there when mine was still there....black 33 GTR with a fresh respray, chances are it was yours :P

Welcome to the world of modifying cars.

No shop is gonna drop everything and just work on ur car unless you make it worth their while.

Ive waitied months for minor things

You have no idea!

There are more than a few people that have been stuffed around. There have been members from this forum that have waited nearly a year to get their cars back together, let alone running.

You are talking about months; I think a year no matter how much work is way too much.

Yeah mate I have no idea as my car is stock and never spent time in a workshop getting work done to it :P

My car has become 'apart of the furniture' as someone told me many a time getting work done to it!!

That's not what I meant.

Have you dealt with them before INASNT?? You have no idea about the agro associated with getting major stuff done there. You made a post stating that it is a norm to have to wait months just because you choose to modify your car. A few months is ok but nearly a year?

To prove my point I will give you an example. It took *** 7-11 months to do a engine rebuild for certain members of this forum. To do the same job it takes Racepace 7 weeks. When you try and chase these guys down to find out what they are doing all you get is lies and excuses.

I can confidently say INASNT you have never been through something like this. It was only a matter of time that someone made a negative post about them.

Hi champ i know your car it had a metalic sparkle going through it before you sprayed it.I was acctualy looking at purchasing it but changed my mind and purchased his partners car instead.I guess your experiencing some probs, dont know why considering my car has been back there a couple of times and ive had nothing but A grade treatment every time....

Ben i thought you guys at racepace had a good business relationship with *** as he sent me to you when you dynoed my car??

Anyway good luck with the gtr champ hopefully ill see you around :(

From what I know they don't do dyno tunes themselves and don't do engine re-builds either, they sent it off to other people to do. Then they say how the other people have been stuffing them around, well that's in my case anyway. Not saying they haven't been stuffed around but going to one place to get work done and them sending it to two or 3 other places to complete the work doesn't seem the best or quickest way to get job done for customer.

Also recently got speeding fine sent to me as car I traded in still in my name 6 months on. I think that sums up how quick they work. They haven't even given me details of driver to transfer fine over. Going to transfer it to them as it should be at least in their name by now.

Just don't want to hear of others having same trouble so this thread just to help all of you.

Slygtr: is yours the white R33 with the T04Z in it? Wasn't it in there after a minor bingle. If so hope all ok.

PS Had to get car re-sprayed as no insurance for that style of paint job.

my turn to chime in, im the owner of upi and i suggest before the bashing that people actually read graemes posts and dont make assumptions, i have done all the work to grahams car in a timely matter and the hold up was partially because after the engine problem that graeme didnt have to pay for, he wanted to get a number of internal mods and needed some time to raise the extra cash.

i didnt sell the car , i just performed the mods and did the roadworthy work.

i dont sell cars, we are a workshop.

the engine number wasnt our fault, we dropped the engine off to an engine builder for rebuilding and he forgot to mention that he used a different block and for some reason the guy a vicroads, decided that because they didnt have the new info . he wanted to be a smart ass.

wtf are u on about, i suggest if ur such a buddy of ben at racepace u talk to him about our work, dunno where u get ur facts from, but instead of rubbishing us, how about some facts.

funny that we are so bad, that not so long ago ben was flat out that he needed an urgent engine swap on gtr for a customer, guess who he asked to do it , yes us and he had it done inside 3 days.

i think u guys will notice that most that chime in here have had good experiences with us rather than bad, were not perfect.

but if there are delays its usually out of our control.

Dean

As stated above I have no issues with his workshop and would recommend him for getting work done. He always very prompt with work done, quotes and always let me know what was going on. This was only about the sales business which has been below par.

Hi champ my car is not the white gtr that had a stack my gtr is dark grey, if you look uder upi's website you'll see under screen savers...

Btw nicely put dean..

    • It's not, but it does feel like a bit of a missed opportunity regardless. For example, what if the cylinder head was redesigned to fit a GDI fuel system? It's worth like two full points of compression ratio when looking at modern GDI turbo vs PFI turbo. I'm pretty reliably surprised at how much less turbo it takes to make similar power out of a modern engine vs something like an RB26. Something with roughly the same dimensions as a -7 on an S55 is making absolutely silly power numbers compared to an RB26. I know there's a ton of power loss from things like high tension rings, high viscosity oil, clutch fan, AWD standby loss, etc but it's something like 700 whp in an F80 M3 vs 400 whp in an R33 GTR. The stock TF035HL4W turbos in an F80 M3 are really rather dinky little things and that's enough to get 400 whp at 18 psi. This just seems unwise no? I thought the general approach is if you aren't knock limited the MFB50 should be held constant through the RPM range. So more timing with RPM, but less timing with more cylinder filling. A VE-based table should accordingly inverse the VE curve of the engine.
    • I've seen tunes from big name workshops with cars making in excess of 700kW and one thing that stood out to me, is that noone is bothering with torque management. Everyone is throwing in as much timing as the motor can take for a pull. Sure that yields pretty numbers on a dyno, but it's not keeping these motors together for more than a few squirts down the straight without blowing coolant or head gaskets. If tuners, paid a bit more attention and took timing out in the mid range, managed boost a bit better, you'll probably see less motors grenading. Not to name names, or anything like that, but I've seen a tune, from a pretty wild GT-R from a big name tuner and I was but perplexed on the amount of timing jammed into it. You would have expected a quite a bit less timing at peak torque versus near the limiter, but there was literally 3 degrees of difference. Sure you want to make as much as possible throughout the RPM range, but why? At the expense of blowing motors? Anyhow I think we've gone off topic enough once again lol.
    • Because that’s not what any of them are building these heads or blocks for. It’s to hold over over 1000hp at the wheels without breaking and none of that stuff is required to make power
    • Dort sounds above 3k rpm are dorty 🤣 I might krinkle black the alloy 🤔
    • It makes you wonder, all these people starting to make a billet replacement head, I wonder if any have thought about trying to adapt tech from newer engines into them. You're already at the full design stage to make a billet head... Why not really spice it up and had some more modern tech into the mix too...
