Street tyres vs full slicks? haha

Put semis on both cars and see what happens...

I agree semis on both. Last UAS track day JT and I were there in our near stock Zeds and not a GTR to be seen on the time. I love both cars but got to pay it to the Zed sometimes, as they are very similar in steering g/box, suspension etc etc. By the way A Zed is still the only car to even clean the Mt Black Tassie Targa stages, including Lambos, Porsches, etc etc and that wasnt not big dollar race car just a mild street tune Steve Millen Spec with semi's.

After all the jab I got given from the GTR boys on the NDSOC Targa Tour about how I was going to get thrashed, their lap times were well Hmmm shoddy, and I was running crappy $150 Nankangs on a Mild tune street Zed, would love to come play with you guys one day when not bloody working.

PS Dan cant wait to see your beast!

I would like to see a head to head challenge between a 300z and a GTR, same year, same $ value on Mods. Measurement would need to be 1/4 and track times with a street metric around general drivability.

Without a workshop or a performance mag behind the project the argument will never be solved, I would have a feeling at sometime someone would have done this.

I guess the discussion at hand is as follows.

"Is the UAS 300z faster then Paul's GTR?"

The answer is fcuk yeah!, any workshop should be ashamed if it could not make this statement.

I can put all excuses on the table but the answer is this 300z is a quicker track car, but I know of a 121 with a rotary which is quicker then both of us, but no one will ever say 121's are better then GTR's or 300z's.

I have only one goal, pay the UAS mechanics to slow Johns car enough for me to smack his ar$e, its only a matter of time before I eventually win!

One day I will own JP and it will be a fine day, yes a very fine day!

I will also be out there on Sunday in my lightly modded Zed. Previous best of 51.5 at Oran hoping to scrape into the high 50s this time if all goes well.

RE55 semi slicks

front brakes upgraded.

Yeah yeah bla bla and I was smacking you guys with GTR's way back with stock motor. Yesterday just cracked into the 47 sec bracket, well just with a 47.99 on DOT approved new semi slicks, which I always said would be better than the old slicks I have been using, in fact .4 of a second faster than my best ever on slicks. Oz GTR02V you now know old slicks are not always better than good semi slicks hey? I thought about it on way home and looked like you were cooking the outside of those slicks right? Need more neg camber.

By the way there was another fast zed there yesterday, Ron in his 60's cardigan and pipe grand father of four with an auto zed and all his bling, yesterday did a 51.9 semi slics. Driver often makes a big difference.

Blitz another beer talker when are you coming out? Those in the bleeches shouldn't comment. We just added another sticker to the zed for our super sprint team slogan. BTR BEER TALK RACING sorry fatz as you should have registered it first.

OZ GTR02V is at least out ther goes to every track day going flying the flag. For some reason there seam to be a lack of GTR's at the track in Sydney especially fast ones. Rob with his very tough R33 GTR race car was out early with huge mods and power, including perspex windows and Holinger gear box etc although broke the box again I heard and was on a the trailer early. Benm good to see you there yesterday as always at every motorsport event going.

Yes,

Well a disappointing 51.1 on the slicks, this was .2 seconds slower then my best time on T1R toyo's. I managed to destroy the slicks in 2 sessions. After showing the tyres to a few people I have made my mind up on the reason why they only lasted 30 min.

1. The camber, had the wheel alignment is only 1.3 Deg, not enough for the race track.

2. Std Suspension does not suit slicks as the body roll really works the edges and slicks need a more square contact to the road.

I have some great in-car footage, of the Boat leaving me down the straight. The boat puts about 50 Meters on me and there was nothing I could do john you will love it, you can show it to all your boat fans. I will have to post up the "I don’t know how to stop footage!" as I watch John almost hit the tyre wall. Your right, the driver does make a big difference.

I did notice I was turning 2 early into the last turn which was affecting my exit speed. I did fix this up by the end of the day.

I guess 240KW @4w vs. 380Kw Rw on a lighter car gives you the advantage

I will hunt down some semi's for the SAU GP day in 4 weeks.

Now with respect to the bet, you improved your time by about 1/4 of a second? I did not improve at all, so that about 1/2 a case of corona coming your way. I am a man of honour!

See you at the next one captain of the boat, my arch race track enemy!

Hold the press! I just checked my only other recorded lap time of OP Sth on the UAS web site. I clocked 51.9, not 50.9 I had my own delusions of grandeur. This means I improved my lap time by .8 sec. John we will have to discuss this further face to face!
