mickr33
Just bought 2 for the back from a tyre place in Settlement Rd Thomostown. Originally asked for the K104's then the guy suggested why not try the new design Ventus V8 RS. A bit better he said so for $5 extra each tyre i did. They are quite good all round. I know these are 16 inch prices $140 for the K104's and $145 for the Ventus V8 RS in a 225/50/16. Just do the ring around as i did for the best price.......... ceedub
i'm looking to get set of k104 17/255 in 1 or 2 month timeso i'm just wondering how much would they cost and can any1 recommand me a tyre shop that sells them cheap.... thanks I am also in the process of buying tyres. Got a quote for K104's 255/40R17 for $215, also recomended was the V8 for 5 bucks extra Bundoora Tyre on Settlement road. However I have read mixed reviews on this tyre, so not sure if I should get it. Bass Junky
The Hankook K107s are top tyres. I have them on mine, and I'll be putting another set on soon. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/110133-hankook-k104/#findComment-2032901 Share on other sites
ferni
I think the K104 is still the better/grippier/more sports oreintated tyre compared to the K107... look at the pics of the tread on the site K104 looks more aggressive, K107 looks a bit more like your normal road tyre.... and the description seem to lean towards the K104 being the more perforamnce tyre... K104: http://www.hankooktyre.com.au/v2/products/...ch=uhpt&id=1088 Ventus SportK104 This Y-speed-rated ultra high performance tire provides top traction and performance. It reflects the racing tire technology that Hankook has built up through motor sports activities. As such, it provides the superiorprecision, control and responsiveness required to perform under extreme driving conditions. K107: http://www.hankooktyre.com.au/v2/products/...ch=uhpt&id=1173 Ventus S1evoK107 The new profile and structure design ensure optimum surface contact pressur and surface contact shape the ventus S1evo is the key to this unbound freedom Ventus V8 RS H424: http://www.hankooktyre.com.au/v2/products/...ch=uhpt&id=1174 Ventus V8 RSH424 An Ultra-high performance tyre with enhanced braking capacity delivers outstanding driving control and smooth ride at high speeds. The 104 seems to be the only one out of the 3 that is Y rated through the whole range... Best way is to call Hankook and see what they say is the best performance tyre out of the 3.... Mean_R34
I put a new set of K104's on my 34 last year Silica compund. I bought them at Beaurepaires in Clayton. Was gonna go to DOnellan's Box Hill as no one could match their price, but Clayton at the time ended up being the most convenient. They matched the price! I paid $960 for 2 235/40/ZR18's and 2 265/35/ZR18's. That included supply/fit/balance & 4-wheel alignment. In my opinion they are a good tyre. Obviously there's more pricey & better tyres out there, but for bang-for-your-buck, several tyre shops rated them as one of the best value. On a track they get hot pretty quickly, then they suck like most road tyres. They're not a track tyre, but good streeters. Bass Junky
The inside word is that the tyre shops hate them because they wear so well and they can't get return business because of it. The damn things last too long. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/110133-hankook-k104/#findComment-2033387 Share on other sites
ferni
That they do (last a long time) and they grip reasonably well. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/110133-hankook-k104/#findComment-2033751 Share on other sites

Kaz, i've got the K104's, 17/255 on the rear, n in the wet, I find it terrible.....but i've seen a lot of people recommending it....I have to keep it under 2000revs when taking off at a colour light, otherwise the wheels jus keep spinnin in one place 4 a while......anyone have any suggestions on some rubber that has a bit better grip on the wet??????? Tangles
Im getting 4 new K104's put onto my Stagea this weekend, $800 all up fitted balanced etc, for 235/45/17's onto my new R34 GTT rims - Im in SA by the way. How long (ie kms) would a set last for? My Stagea isnt a daily driver, and when driven is usually in high density areas..... ie city driving. The Stagea is a heavy car, around 1900kgs with me driving it and fully fuelled - so how much PSI should be in each tyre?
