Centre Tailshaft Bearing Worn (r32 Gtr)

Recommended Posts

it's easy but better if you have a hoist. pull the old one off, fit the new one makng sure the two halves of the shaft mate back together the way they came off, and that's it. be careful to orient the bearing correctly ie the front goes to the front from memory it's a white dot that denotes it. make sure also that you mark the flange alignments on the box and diff with the ones on the shaft as they have different bolt patterns at each end and can be a bugger to lign up if you don't.

cheers

Got a one piece chrome molly tailshaft made up for my GTR. Saves roughly 4kgs of weight off driveline. The two piece is only 1070mm long anyway so a one piece shouldn't cause any issues at high speed if it's balanced and only a metre long?

it isnt too hard specailly if you have the workshop maunal and a tailshaft centre bearing replacement kit(inc. center bearing and mount and a new bolt and washer), the manual explains it all. how they come appart, how things go, what to grease etc.
