im with zahos...

altho i would probably not have the patience and just bash his face til it caves in and dump in another state out in the wilderness somewhere where is smelly festering little boddy gets devoured by some animals....

i know if i was going to steal a car and some psycho came running out the house with a shotgun id be detered.... go buy a shotgun :D

nark, it is much more satisfying to watch em suffer. At least thet will learn their lesson, and have remorse for their mistakes before they die.

BoOsTeD_RB26: The best thing for you to do now is:

- change the barrels in your locks, all of them as he may have taken a house key as well.

- as mentioned, change the frequency of you remote garage doors

- inform your neighbours. (Also tell neighbours that he has been looking at a few cars in the neighbourhood so that they themselves feel threatened, so that they dont ignore it)

- inform the police, and get a written report (for insurance purposes, so if your car does get knocked off, it will speed things up with your insurance pay out)

setting up a camera can be quite a job, and quite costly. It really pisses me off that we live in a society where we have to watch our backs!!! It only happens in big cities where we dont all know each other! If victims however started to take action against these people, and against those satanic lawyers that defend these people, this wouldn't happen as often. If you dont take care of yourself, who will??? Thats why you teach these f*ckers a good lesson when you catch them, otherwise you will always be hastled!

3 step guide to ridding the world of theives

step 1/ Get a pig farm http://www.whysanity.net/monos/snatch.html

Step 2/ Fish hooks connected to 12VDC

step 3/ Roll of gaffer tape

U do the math :D

Anyhow all crap aside ure neighbour said that he has some stuff stolen right? i think the general behaviour is for these types to scope the area for a day and then hit it one night and move on. If they tried once and failed chances are they wont be back unless they are really stoopid or really determined, which most arent. When my car last got broken into they did the whole street and just stole some crap off my back seat. It was on one of those really stormy windy nights where u hear lots of noises but dont pay attention to them.

Someone suggested this to me a while ago.... It uses the sensor light theory but instead of having the light shine on the car when the sensor goes off, put the light say above your bed so it will wake you up without alerting the thief.... This way you will have the element of surprise on him...

It would take a little bit of effort to setup correctly but once in place would give you a huge advantage over the thief :D

thanks for all the replies people. you've all been very helpful. I'll be making a trip down to dick smiths probably to buy a camera for the garage. im also looking into a PIN code thingo to put in the car....like the STi's have with the Brant system.

what would actually happen though if something happend and say the thief got "hurt"?

coz I have heard of thieves breaking into peoples houses...getting hurt and sueing the owner. how does this work? just a quick Q...sorry to go an bit off topic.

Dont pick up the bat... or the police will charge you worse than the crims.... Just tell the police that they pushed you and you grabbed one of them to not lose ballance then pull them into the garage wall and then when their in shock bash their face up against the wall a few more times... Dont use the floor case you want the pattern of the garage wall there for proff...

Just kidding... Nah i bought a House alarm system... conected to the garage aswell... So when im out or the at work the whole premises is under alarm... Any windows or doors are opened then the alarm goes off... Plus i have 2 big dogs in the back yard.... Their really good if people come door knocking... cause then i let them into the front yard....

those relays are a good idea. also think (if its a professional) starter and fuel pump relays can be bypassed given time. i was thinking about an injector / coil cut relay also. the more independent cut out points (especially if well hidden) it will take ages for a thief to remove the vehcile.

Ive heard about numeric keypad immobilisers available from Jaycar, which stop you starting the car until you have punched in a pin number. apparently these are pretty cheap, too.

this would then work as a second immobiliser - so that even if they have your keys they cant start the car without the pin.

I had one of those keypad in my first car.... (It was a holden) but anyway more to the point. I could by pass that system in about 1 minute....

The keypads are a great idea, except everyone thinks their amobile phone. (idiots) But their easilly bypassed....

    • Yep, that was one of the things we learned fast in the past with our MX5. When you drive with the top down, you are effectively standing out in the sun, 100% of the time, and not getting in any shade (because roads aren't shaded generally!). Just like standing out in the middle of a field on a sunny 27C day is a bit of a bad plan, so is sitting in a MX5 without sun protection.
    • I also just ordered some Frankenstein bolts and side mounts to fit a hard top Just in case I do find one, basically so it doesn't need to be fixed to the car with only the front latch.......and then gaffa tape to keep it in place for the RTN journey from wherever I get it
    • If your temps are fine now, you probably won't have any issues with where your vents are as they don't look right up at the windscreens high pressure area, so any differences when giving it the beans for extended happy laps would be minimal, but, they should vent heaps when stuck in traffic  Much like how that reverse cowl on my SS let "visible" heat out when stationary, but, because it was basically at the windscreen my coolant temps on the Hwy actually raised because air was being fed into it at speed (110kph), to only come back down to around 90° when I got off the Hwy And your 100% correct about the NC currently not needing vents, but, if I was to add a turbo, and a oil cooler and intercooler in front of the condenserand radiator, and then take it to the track???? It is apparently a recommend requirement if I don't want to worry about coolant or oil temp issues, but, any of the above are possible scenarios, over time As it sits now, with the triple pass radiator and stock air conditioning system, I have absolutely no issues with either temps or air conditioning efficiency, I've been basically daily driving thie car for the last month, both on the Hwy, and peak hour, bumper to bumper traffic, but, that's pretty much expected from basically a standard engine  Talking about no issues daily driving, it was 39° the other day and I was sitting in bumper to bumper traffic on the M5 and then M7, with the top down, and with the air conditioning blowing nice cold air on my feet, balls, and face, well, there was one issue, my head and arms got pretty sun burnt Note to self: leave a hat and sunscreen in the car for such days 🤣
    • I would agree, unless you need something specific to the HV motor/battery side repaired or investigated, any mechanic will be able to perform normal services, but if you prefer, maybe look for a mechanic who regularly services/repairs Nissans, the VQ engines are pretty common in the Nissan lineup.  Sorry, I can't make any suggestions, I don't live in Vic.
    • Some of them keep working fine. 9 out of 10 of them end up causing an absolute misery bleeding the system and get thrown on the workshop floor in a tantrum and never thought about again because they were never really needed and just added crap to the car that we could have done without. Same-same with HICAS, A-LSD, and various other stupidities that over eager 10x engineers thought we had to have.
