So my car is gettin closer, has been nothing but troubles from go, but the turbo is on lines oil and water are connected 50mm wastegate is on, AFM's with twin entry dreaming.

I rang many places stocking HKS and Greddy who do a 2 into 1 for the inlet to join the afms, got the massive run around from most places and even told I had to buy the 8g kit from hks to get the inlet pipe. It would have been a simple 40degree 100mm into two 70mm from turbo to the twin afms, but simple as it might sound requires alot of man hours to fab.

So ive opted for a plug in computer, wont go Fcon due to tuning costs but I have been told that apexi do a De-Jetro with map sensors to remove the afms.

Apexi Power FC reliable?

Apexi power fc tuning capabilities? i have read alot of stuff brought out by apexi but I need to know from people who have experience with the power fc.

Map sensors instead of Afms a good idea?

anyone with a gtr with a single and a dejetro? what sort of kws am i lookin at? (standard motor 650cc injectors adj cam gears, 700hp gt35r twin bb)

My 20 cents.....

Use a standard Power FC.

Run a single Q45 AFM

Parrellel the wiring, run the 2 X AFM connections to the 1 X Q45 AFM

The Power FC will see 2 X AFM's both at exactly the same voltage

Tune as per normal

:P cheers :D

would the air flow be sufficient with a single 300zx meter?

When I have the money I will be installing an rb30 bottom end with all the goodies, so i have to consider mapping abilities and air flow for this much higher horsepower setup.

Are you saying that the de-jetro is no good or not as safe as afms? I can get the whole setup with the extra loom and map sensors for 100 dollars more than a standard power fc.

There's more than 1 way to skin a cat (or at least measure engine load). Go for a drive in a D-Jetro equiped GT-R and quizz the owner of aspects that really worry you (cold start, idle, throttle response, economy or whatever) and make up your own mind.

Cheers

Well yes of course it reads different to the GTR one, thats the point.

The PowerFC has calibration built in for the stock AFMs, Z32s and Q45's.

The Q45 is 3.15" opening diameter and around 3.5" outside diameter

ahh right of course.

Wouldnt it read different to the gtr afms?

what size is the q45 afm?

Q45 = 90 mm

RB20/25/Z32 = 80 mm

RB26 = 65 mm

Yep. you will need to tune it exactly as you would for any other AFM swap. On the GTR Power FC there is a selection for Q45 AFM's on the menu, it's a good start. Certainly FAR easier than tuning with MAP sensors on a turbo charged engine with multiple throttle bodies. Don't ignore the extra tuning and installation costs, I wouldn't be surprised if it cost more than the Power FC DJetro itself.

The best I have seen is 424 rwkw (645 bhp) out of a single Q45 AFM, no restriction issues as 90 mm is plenty big. From a resolution perspective there is more in it, maybe enough for 450 rwkw, we will see shortly.

:) cheers :)

d-jetro..

How long did it take to tune?

The one and only DJetro I have seen on a GTr took almost as long as a Motec M6000 from scratch.

Other tuners have reported the same, it's a MAP sensor driven tune on a car with a turbo and multiple throttle bodies. Once it is at full boost and WOT there is no variation from the MAP sensor, unlike an AFM which records every change in airflow no matter how small. All you are referencing your mapping to is RPM, it's one dimensional tuning. That takes time and experience to do properly.

Our race team tuner likens it to tuning with a normal Power FC where the AFM maxes out as soon as the boost target is achieved. All you have is RPM (and throttle position of course).

 cheers :P

Well I just bit the bullet and ordered from www.nengun.com

Getting the whole lot with map sensors and extra loom for 1200 delivered with controller, excellent price.

My mate at DAT wants to practise tuning the de-jetro so is doing it all for nothing, we will spend a saturday on it see how we go. I have heard that they take ages.

Anyone got a gtr with a de-jetro installed I would love to see..pm me..

I just hope that the motor will be safe without afm's.

I will let you all know on KWs and torque. And if you guys are goin on the cruise on easter monday then you will see if it is reliable.......

A few of the WA guys have dropped the Wolf and gone for the DJetro, maybe try a post in the WA section. I am sure everyone would appreciate a run down on your experiences once it is tuned.

:P Cheers :P

yeah they do take up a lot more time. but you'll never have afm probs ever again eh :P

and i remember a few issues of hpi back they did the djetro on a gtr..

pretty good write up about it.. if i can find it.. i will scan the pages for you tommorrow while at work..

That's true, you will have MAP sensor problems instead. Mounted on the inlet manifold, subject to heat and vibration.

:P cheers :D

Sydneykid im going to be running an atmo BOV on my S15 which is AFM equipped. Now this car is 100% for the street(minimal lag, smooth delivery, punchy), would it be best to go for normal FC or Jetro. My aim is 240-250RWKW(using a t518Z 8cm or APEXI p60). If i have normal FC and an atmo BOV, will my car stall or stutter, or is there a way of tuning it so it won't happen? Thanks heaps in advance.

i think you can tune around the ATMO bov afm stall issue but it will take lots longer to iron out the kinks in it and not worth the labour costs IMHO.

you would be better of using the standard BOV having it do the standard job that its intended to do, recirc backpressure to the front of the compressor. i believe this will also take a tiny bit of lag away as you recirc any unused airflow/pressure build up. normal powerfc should be fine, there would be no advantes moving to the djetro verison that i can see.

do you have to run an atmo bov ?

I have a Trust Type S still in box, hasnt been installed yet. The car currently has a stock BOV, so its not necessary thta i have to run one, but it would be nice lol. I've heard there is less lag upon gear changes using a plumb-back. But i see heaps of people with silvias and skylines who run atmo BOVs with stock ECY's and don't stall/stutter, how is that so?

    • Thanks for the replies guys, I'm new to the world of hybrids. It's definitely a lot cheaper to run than my old m35 stagea that's for sure but yeah well shy of the claimed figures so far, hoping the batteries not poked (although it came with a 3 year warranty for the hybrid battery as well). Wondering if it'll take another tank for the ecu to figure out the higher octane if it's been run on 91 for a bit?
    • welcome to SAU  sounds like you do have a bit of sorting out to do on the car, but it looks nice you can attach pics directly after you've made 10 posts.
    • yeah a coolant pressure test will tell you if you have a leak anywhere as it just pressurises the system. If it drops from where you set it, say 1 bar, you have a leak somewhere
    • Thanks heaps. So basically, bare block, very very similar. And cranks are the same
    • Hey guys, I have dipped my toes into the pool of skylines finally and figured I would get amongst the forums and make an introduction post! My name is Callum, I'm from the north side of Sydney, and I am now 6 months into owning my 1992 R32 GTS-T (already having half of that time off the road in true nissan fashion). It is originally an AH3 car but at some stage of its life it has been resprayed in and out in TH1 with (in the sellers words) extra purple, parked next to an actual TH1 car it is a fair bit lighter in colour. It has also had the original RB20 swapped out for an RB25DET NEO which I presume to be out of a Stagea going off the AWD sump that has been sealed up. I won't go super into detail with mods as I want to create a build thread post soon. Unfortunately the car seems to have had a hard life as many of these have being previously a cheap sub 10k car, and I have barely any history on it so if anyone happens to recognise the car or thinks they may have any history I would LOVE to hear it as I am a bit of a nerd when it comes to car history, the seller had it roughly since 2020 I believe and was from Parramatta area if that helps. Look forward to being a part of the community, I have been to 2 SAUNSW events already (one being in 2022 prior to ownership, and once more a few weekends ago) so you could say I am not brand new to it but can definitely be more involved via the forums! (side note: I am pretty new to forums and struggled to attach pictures of the car, is there an easier method than having to have the pictures on facebook and copying the link from there? would love to know for future reference cheers!)
