dunno bout common faults but on mine ive

replaced all hoses/pipes in engine bay as they were perishing (including fuel pipes also)

including powerstreering pipes

new startermotor (old one totally wore its bushes)

shreads tyres due to suspension being haddit (would always wear off the inside ring of the tyres, regardless of how many balances/alignments i got done (new coil overs fixed it)

new steering column switch

fixed solder on power windows

new thermo fan (old one cracked)

new o2 sensor (to try and fix fuel economy, still attrocious)

new clutch

new plugs

new battery

i believe i have got off pretty lightly

I've had my

Radiator - replaced with new

Fan Clutch - replaced with new

Coil Packs - replaced with 2nd hand (twice)

Battery - replaced with new

Water Pump - replaced with new

Timing belt (did it with water pump) - replaced with new

Nothing too much really - usual wear and tear parts I would say - except for the coil packs!

Ive had mine for over a year now....

I have replaced:

- Spark Plugs

- Brakes

- Tyres

Just the things you would do on a normal family car, so i havnt had any troubles (touch wood).

Things that need changing in the next 6 Months:

- Clutch

- Timing Belt

- Water Pump

So all in all ive gotten off alright.

I guess it just depends if you buy a clean car or a worn out car....

I've had my car for going on 4 years now and all I've had to change on it were brakes, spark plugs, timing belt and tyres (plus regular servicing of course!)

The only thing that has gone wrong with it so far is that the electric side mirrors don't work anymore but that's an easy fix if I could be bothered.
