Hey guys,

I've got an R34 & have recently swapped the wheels from stock to some IB Racing 18"s - not sure what the style is called. As I have bugger all clearance (less than 1mm at the front, rear is fine), I'd like to know what's available to me to avoid scratching my rims (they don't rub but it's too close for comfort). Also, my studs really can't fit a spacer (I'm currently running around 1cm thick, but this is a temporary solution) so if I don't get a bolt-on adaptor then they will need replacement.

I'm keen to change the brake calipers if there is something available which is narrower than stock, or if it's more cost effective I'll be looking for some bolt-on adaptors. I'm located in Brisbane, so if you could provide any local contacts I'd be most appreciative.

I've got a good idea of what I need, I'm just after the most cost-effective way to do it. I have adequate spacers if I get longer studs, but at the moment I'm finding studs difficult to get in QLD. If anyone has any contacts, by all means share!

anyone who has R34 GTT rims on their 33 can testify that you wouldn't even get a piece of paper between the caliper and the rim... doesn't cause any problems though... as long as it isn't hitting... you can always grind a mm or two off the caliper?

None of you guys have Brisbane-based contacts? I appreciate the advice so far but if any of you have contact details it would be a great help

Dude, I just asked my mechanic to do it, and he got them put them in, gave me a torque wrench for the weekend to just keep and eye on them, and shes apples.

But having said that I have like 15mm spacers on, and still only have 2mm clearance if that. A gap is a gap :dry:

They are however still illegal, get the bolt on ones.

Not having a go at you dude (cause I used to think the same way), but offset has little to do with brake clearance. Offset is more to do with suspension clearance. What is important when choosing wheels to fit over a large caliper is to look at where the spokes are in relation to the hub mounting.

Thanks for the input, but the real issue is that my wheel studs aren't long enough (barely half the nut is on the stud). Is there any other options apart from a bolt-on spacer or longer studs + spacers? I am happy with the size of my current spacers, so even if there is an alternative nut design (I've seen em on tractors, not sure about cars though - they have a sleeve, as I'll try to demonstrate. Please excuse the crappy drawings & attempt at 3D).
