Hey all,

Car in question: R33, GTS-T.

Basically about 2 months ago now, I had my car serviced and various things done at a very reputable workshop in Brisbane, one of the things I had done was to have all my brake rotor's surfaces machined. I was advised that I didn't need new pads on the car at all as there was still plenty of 'meat' left on them.

In the last couple of days i've noticed a ring develop on my rear brake rotors, only the rears and both sides, although the rear right seems more prominent. It isn't that there is a gouge in the rotor at all, its all smooth when you run your hand across it, it just looks to be a different colour to the rest of the car.

I took some pictures so you can all see what i'm talking about, I just want any advice if anyone has come across this problem before and what it was? Or if maybe I need new pads? Any advice would be good, thanks in advance.

i would always get new pads with a machine of the rotors, so they bed in to the surface on the rotor..

could be that your rotors had a high spot in that area and the pad isn't touching completely now that the rotors are flat.

it's recommended to change pads when you change rotors, but not totally necessary.

All you do is take out the pads and turn them face down on a flat concrete surface, stand on them and rub them a couple of times. This removes any unevenness cut into the pads by the old rotors.

My rotors have a couple of lines on them like this, I changed pads & rotors at the same time and this has happened.... don't worry about it!
