not always the case. if u were not at fault, and can identify who is then you shouldnt have to pay an excess or lose a rating. the insurance company will charge the guilty party, instead of hiking your premium on the next renewal.....

thats how it is where i work anyway, dunno about others....

yeah, that's my understanding as well.. i know just cars works that way, pretty sure they all do.

i thought some insurance company! that when u claimed insurance! either its ur fault or not. U do lose your premium!

because u listed as (likely) to have an accident status!

not true???

If you're at fault or can't identify the party responsible for the theft/accident then typically you pay excess, they pay you out (or go through the process) then they terminate your cover.

I'd imagine it's different on every policy however. This is not advice, this does not constitute financial advice, I have not taken your personal situation into what I've said blah blah.

The wind once blew my door into another parked car.

The quotes were $500 - $800 - luckily she picked the cheap one - so I was looking at $500.

I got the lady's permission to ring the repair company - asked them how much cheaper it would be if I gave them cash and he knocked $130 off the price.

Worth a shot.
