i was wondering why sau sa doesnt have a club yet.

im not sure what goes into making a club and all that but perhaps we can try to organize a small club down in sa?

mayb some suggestions and advice given by other clubs may help us create our own little club down here... i would be very happy to be the one of the first members of our own club, and will help out as much as possible...

any ideas or suggestions guys?

lol @ Leo :P

No is the answer to the question posed in this thread.

In order to form a club you have to do things like have AGMs, run books and accounting etc, charge for cruises, pay indemnity insurance, form committees etc etc. Part of the nature of SAU as it exists is that anyone can have a go, and there is no real heirarchy and all that crap. It is my belief these things detract from the fun.

Things tend to run just fine around here without things being too formal. Once you formalise into a club, you have to exist as and within the boundaries of said club. It is a HUGE undertaking, and we all kow that cars come and go - as do people. I think it would be way more trouble than it's worth. Who here has the time/inclination to attend meetings, be Treasurer, President etc?

If you want a formal club go join PSI, GSR-Evo, SVD etc etc.

Guys, its a huge headache to have a formal club.

My dad and mum are the Treasurer and Secretary respectively of the 48-215 FJ Holden car club here in SA (dad has quite a few FJ's, including panelvans etc)... there is a hell of a lot of work involved.

I know, as seeing I work with dad in our business and am the only PC operator here, I have the task of doing all the work (ta dad, ta a fkn lot), therefore its my task to do the minutes, keep the records, members lists, etc etc, and the thing is, ................. i HATE fkn Holden fj's & fx's with a passion!

LOL

Trust me, the paperwork involved sucks hairy dog-balls.

Im an, sorry, THE, Administration manager for our business, (plus Sales manager, Marketing manager, etc etc etc etc etc etc) and am sort of used to the workload, but when all the FJ car club shite is thrown at me I just get SOOOOOOOOOO annoyed with it, seeing Ive got to put 60hrs of work into a 40-odd working week.

I hate those damn cars now with a passion.

if being an official club is not worth it

we could just be a sort of unofficial club sort of like a name we can say is ours

we could still make a membership list and sai add a fee sort of like $10 -20 to join and membership includes some stickers that we must stick on the car until the time u leave the 'club' or something

even if its buyin from SAU but get our own variation like

AU - SA

S

in the format of the GTR badge and then SA smack bang in the middle next to AU

S

mayb that could even b SAU new sticker design?

ofcourse there is no difference to wat u guys are doing now just something to distuingish us out in the crowd and we can seem more organized rather then a branch from SAU who dont even know exactly who is in the group

I run a club (iNFMS) and by gosh it is a headache sometimes.. those that do the work are forgotten and people take for granted the hard work that goes into the club.

If this goes ahead the best of luck is wished.

I love the import scene, but there seems to be a fair bit of bitching in it.

Move the bitching aside and we are all one happy family.

Goodluck.

I may be able to offer a 3rd option (take over an existing club)

I know that the SVD club is still running but due to poor turnouts at meetings (and cruises?) they have cancelled the meetings. If enough skyline guys joined in, it could well become a skyline club.

(I think groups like Infms, PSI etc have taken a lot of the boyracer type members out of the club)

It already has the rest of the club stuff set up and their are a few skylines already involved (some from this forum)

Thanks for your kind words - I realise your not just talking about iNFMS but about PSi also.

To show how serious we are about running the club professionally we are in the process of aquiring a CAMS licence. This means our members can go out on the track and not have to worry about injuring themselves and living with injury.

Another reason is when we hold events we get insurance in case something unexpected happens.

As for the boy racer side of things.. there will always be idiots.. you cant stop them.. you can only tell them whether they are welcome or not. Keep this in mind when setting your club up, and don't be put off if people do rock up to a meet and act like idiots. You can't control them, only guide them.

Either way. It would be good to see more clubs take off. A skyline club would give some form of comradery between any skyline driver.
