QLD, WA, NSW and VIC seem to do just fine putting up with the "headaches" of running an SAU club. There's actually about 20 sections on this forum you guys don't get to see which are for club members from various states.

Seriously, we got told "oh no its so hard", "it'll never work" etc before we started too, and then a couple of us just sat down, nutted out the proper paperwork, and registered as a non profit organisation (as long as all the money made by the club is re-invested to service the members then its non profit) which means no special book keeping or tax work. CAMS affiliation is easy to get, and any one of the CAMS affiliated SAU clubs (VIC and NSW) can help you guys with it. Its also quite cheap if you do it right.

We hold motorkhana days every second month, and super sprints in combination with the WRX club and the Masserati/Porsche club every other month for our members, all of which require CAMS. We charge $70 to sign up as a member (you get a lanyard and a membership card and a couple of SAU stickers) and $90 for your full CAMS speed event license. Very cheap compared to most other clubs out there... in fact we've had people sign up just so that they can get their CAMS licenses and not fork out a fortune to their own clubs.

All our member only cruises are covered by CAMS insurance, which means if one of our members happen to go head first into a house the member and the club is covered from damages incurred.

upon further reading i would be willing to pay 90bux a year for cams licence and wotever else this entiltes me 2 sum cook outs and wot not stickers motokanas insurance is this even cruising through the hills or only event days like hill climbs and mallala

even though i dont have a skyline nor do i have a car... not till the end of this year anyway... id still fork out $90 or even $100 to be part of a skylins club in SA.

I'm only 17 but im pretty confident on database work so possibly i could manage members lists and so on. althought i doubt u guys would trust me with the money so someone older more experience should take that position.

Being a club would give those advantages as funkymonkey stated. the downside as far as i am concerned is the accounting work and organization work which i think we can solve by actually paying the person a decent wage for his/her work. ofcourse this mite boost the member fee up abit but its alot more fair for the person.

This all sounds good, it'll be hard to find all the people that are willing to organize everything all the time. I work for a bank, so if their are any questions about setting up accounts and account autho etc will be more than happy answer any questions. its laso easier to trace money that way as well.

Unfortunately.. theres one problem with sharing the workload.. who do you trust to do the work.. I have learned..

1. Handle all monies yourself - your less likely to spend the money.

2. Make sure all events are passed by an admin/leader.

They are two of my rules.. which help me run the club.

nah u don't need anything like that, u can set up any account where you agree on having a set of "signatories" as it were. so like maybe 2 or 5 people that can operate the account, ie make withdrawals etc. You can also set it up so u need like any two signatures to operate etc. there’s lots of easy options.

i agree... atleast 2 signatures before you can make any transactions. and at the end of every event that has the need for the money receipts must be say posted up in the members section and then we at the end of each month we get a print out of how much money we have left in the acc... that way we can keep track of who is trying to take the money for themselves... if we do it this way... all the other work that must be done is organizing the members lists and a few other items that we need to pay for...

Sorry, but needing two signatures for transactions will make the running of any club just about impossible.

Sure it sounds good in theory, but how many times have you guys rocked up at an event, only to see someone that you were SURE was coming isn't there?

huge waste of time, as most Skyline owners are fly-by-nighters - with a turnover of cars and owners within every 2 year period. This makes it almost impossible to keep a club running.

There are tons of mobs you can go out with and do track days, motorkhanas etc, which few people seem to take advantage of already.

if we register 5 or so signatures that can be used, it makes it alot easier. these signatures are mainly only for fund transactions which can be done 1 or 2 weeks earlier or even the day before we need it. as i said earlier, we can post all transactions on a members only section and everyone in SAU SA have the option to view and discuss any discripencies.

I think the CAMS (S2?) licence will help alot of people out, weather it be for the drifters or people wanting to just go out and cut laps at Mallala. I know i would join as i will be doing practice days and Modern Regularity at Mallala soon. Can even link up with maybe the EVO Club and Mini Club and join in on thier events to get more out of the membership. Member only cruises might piss some people off(then join ya bastard) but hey if there is club insurance at stake then you know......you gotta do what ya gotta do!

Would have to find maybe 2(don't need that many as the club prob won't be toooooo big to start with) people willing to take a little time out to run the show!!!!
