Last time I was @ SST for a dyno, the car was stock (completely, not even an aftermarket exhaust or pod) and managed only 97kw@wheels, after fitting a c-red apexi n1 lookalike cat back exhaust it rose to 115kw@wheels (small advance via the CAS). Since then the blitz spec s EBC has gone in, a HKS green pod and now the trust fmic and my cars pulling 175kw@wheels (with no pod, the HKS unit is leaning the fuel curve out a bit too much at the top end, might go for one of those $25 hurricanes). An interesting fact as well is my EBC (for some odd reason... gonna have to get speedworks to check it) is not holding 12psi of boost (though it reads it). At around 5500-6000 (when the valve timing cuts in) its dropping to around 9psi. So with a better pod, a bit more advance (as the cooler is doing more than enough keeping intake temps down) and the ebc holding 13psi flat it should crack 200kw@wheels. Either way I look at how much money I've spent I think its more than worth every dollar. I'll also be looking at the dump+front pipe soon too, as thats causing flow restrictions. So I've picked up 60kw@wheels, thats over 50% more power... although I've spent a fair bit, I'm sure you could get simular results spending less too, just look at rev210, nobody's been able to beat him yet with a stock turbo or intercooler :(

rob,

It was quite a decent power improvement, I'd suggest the dump pipe would be a good idea, cause the exhaust will limit how much power is produced. Still it was a good improvement, and nice to see that your money has paid off.

VERY nice rob! 175kw atw is nothing to sneeze at.....

Kinda makes me wonder what my car can pull on 12.5psi of boost, i've pretty much got the same as you, 'cept the new cooler of course.

POD, zorst, boost (10-11psi)

I reckon I could up the boost to 12.5-13psi without it pinging....

gotta organise that dyno day for SAU and see what figures people get!

Good work although i seriously doubt you will get 200kw at 13psi on ssts dyno.

Your not losing boost from the EBC thats what they [email protected] boost!

You dont have a dump pipe yet that will restrict boost id be looking their first..

You must be deep into the 13s now Rob :)

Oh..I still have that TRUST Front pipe (not dump) 3 inch ive just sandblasted and painted it, someones looking at it but hasnt gotten back to me yet $200

What sort of ecu remap have you got?

I've heard that the R33 can use a remapped R32 ecu if you ditch the VVT.

The reason rob went back to Steve, other than the offer of free dyno run, was that he had previously had a run on there before and so could accurately guage the power imporvement. It doesn't matter who's dyno you choose aslong as you stick to the same one. It's not the final power that impresses anyone, it's the increase from you mods on the same dyno.

To go from 115rwkW to 175rwkW is a huge improvement, and with a few more simple mods to go could get close to the magical 200rwkW.

So what some of you are saying is that restrictive PODs can affect A/F ratio's.

One would think that my car running rich as hell, by removing my filter and reconnecting the stock BOV, i'd get a better time ?

The excess air being dumped from the blitz can't be good for A/F ratio's right ?

Help me understand!

The pods are reducing the cooling effect on the hot-wire(AFM) and therefore the fuel ratio's are on the lean side. This can all be fixed with an S-AFC of aftermarket computer, but changing pods is a cheap alternative.

The stock BOV's are fine, and can be used even in high horspeower apps, they also help reduce compressor surge. I never had any issue with my Blitz BOV, but many people do, as it confuses the AFM into thinking it needs more fuel, hence why peopl have stalling problems.

Did that help?
