Hi,

I have a 180sx with Mu Rotars and pads in 4 stud. The size of these rotars really limit the type of calipers I can use. The only calipers I found that would suit my rotars are from Endless and would set me back $2,300. I have also recieved alot of feedback from NS.com members that for street driving, the Endless brake kit would be an over kill. Someone suggested I try R32 GTS brakes since they are also in 4 stud and same PCB. I wanted to find out more about the R32 GTS brake set up because I heard that they are also in 4 stud. I am not really keen to do a 5 stud conversion becasue I got a set of 4 stud rims I really like.

What I wanted to find out is:

1) Dimension of R32 GTS rotars? The current rotars I use are 280x22mm

2) Does the R32 GTS use 4 piston calipers?

3) About how much should I be paying for them?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Cheers,

Jon

While I'm not completely sure on the dimensions of the rotors, I'm fairly sure that R32 GTS rotors are 280x22mm.

However, I am very sure that they don't use 4 piston calipers.

Turbo models yes, non turbo models no.

Why not find out about getting the turbo 280x32mm rotors and 4 piston calipers and seeing if they fit... especially see if your rims clear the calipers.....

r32 gtst 4 pots up front

280mm rotors

redrill them to 4 stud

Thanks for the update. Looks like I have few options as to what calipers I can upgrade to. I do not want to re-drill just becasue it is suppose to be illegal. The car is driven by my wife and myself as a fun car and we do not really want trouble with the police.... that would not be fun anymore.

I may just stick with the current SR calipers for the time being. It looks small, and not very good, but $2,300 is probably too much to spend at the moment.

Hey mate I have just finised doing a GTR convesion on my cefiro, you can get R33 gtst front and rear, or 32 GTR or R32 gtst m (dont think type m had drum handbrake). Also need cable and the drum set up for the handbrake, all you need to do is match the caliper to the rotor. so unfortunalty your mu rotors wont fit anything else. And maybe Brake master cylinder. After doing the conversion I recon its one of the most rewarding, safe and enjoying mods you can do. You may be able to get away with a budget of about $800 for 32 type m and $$$$ go up from there.

    • I don’t really have any ideas how to set the timing on the CAS 😂, sounds like the top, sounds like it maybe misfiring as well as ticking,  got the box sorted 😌, must of been a air bubble on the clutch side
    • Use a 2' length of hose (that's 2 foot, not 2 inches) as a stethoscope to localise the source of the ticking. From cam covers? From exhaust or turbo manifold gasket? From injectors? From lower down in the engine? Etc. Use a timing light to set the timing. Put Redline Lightweight Shockproof in the box. It's not the very best thing for the box, but it will take a box that refuses to engage a gear with other oil, and make it engage a gear. I had to put it in when I installed the R33 box I have in my car. It would not select ANY gear when running. Smurf jizz made it work. That was >10 years ago and I still use it. I'm stuck with it now. Failing that - rebuild the box.
    • Well done Duncan. The fuel tank bulkhead lid is also in great condition (some of mine were stuffed). These are now out of production and good ones like that are becoming hard to come by.
    • Wow that's a steal, you've done well there.
