12.6's....on the standard turbo, I bet you still get mugs trying to tell you you have a high flow. I remember the looks of disapointment people had when they looked under the bonnet of my old gtst. At least yours has some bling front mount and carbon bonnet for people to say 'ooh ahh' at in the lanes.

I don't suppose the drag racing bug has you looking at altered dragsters yet does it? There's a category for people the french foregin legion won't let in.

250 shot ready yet?

Yes, that's right.

Yes, sadly they do.

HongKongSpecial Intercooler but no CFRP on the car at all. The bonnet just has a vent in it.

Late-model, turbo, injected bikes w/out wheelie bars are the new outcasts. Injected/rotary/4/6cyl cars get 28 new comp brackets and they can't get one?!?! WTF?!?!

250hp shot? Hahaha.... Out of interest though, my car makes 255hp (190kW) @ the rears without nitrous and 355hp (265kW) with it. That's with the 100hp jetting. Funny that huh?!?!

Adrian

Yes 250rwhp and yet people with supposedly more (on a dyno) can't run that fast....

Perhaps the dyno should be used only as a tuning tool and not for a 'look at mine' sport.

I totally believe a stock turbo can produce eleventy billion horsepower on a dyno (actually I don't really care) it's just that in the real world cars drive on roads not rollers so getting the stock turbo to run 12's on the 1/4 in a street trim R33 whale seems far more interesting.

incredibly sir

i was addressing the post above mine which suggested that our cars will all begin pinging at 13 psi....

Most agreeable then.

For a second there I thought you'd lost it.. :(

2rismo ran 12.6 with only 190kw at the rear wheels?

12.68 @ 107.09 mph - 1.78 60' - 3230lb race weight (me included obviously).

Plenty of other people have run 108mph but don't launch as well and therefore have slower ET's.

i just hit up the drags a few weeks back,

my car is an r33 with stock turbo (0.8bar of boost), hks-cat back, trust front pipe, stock dump, air filter + cai, fmic, ebc and coilovers. (car is kindof setup for drift, suspension wise, the rear was abit bumpy off the line and down the track)

and i was running

13.854 second

Terminal speed: 102.26mph / 165.15kph

Reaction Time: 0.230

60' - 2.261

330' - 5.983

660' - 9.038

660' Speed - 130.69kph

1000' - 11.643

i suck at launch thou, 2000,2500rpm :

Like lots of people with R33's your car had money spent on various mods that made it actually slightly slower or didn't improve anything. I would have left the intercooler alone (it's a silly mod for a stock turbo anyway) and done the dump pipe.

I still maintain that you can take a pretty stock R33 gtst and make it generally faster with the factory intercooler than 99% of the fmic equiped cars going around. Give me an good aftermarket core for the side mount and the remaining 1% won't keep up over the 1/4mile either.

the good news is you can get it down to 13.6 or so pretty easy if you can drop 0.1 or so off the 60ft

I ran 13.8's with :

Stock turbo.

Stock intercooler

Turbo back exhaust.

pineapples

205 tyres.

consistant 13.4's with:

above

+ lightweight flywheel

Turbo 33's all have vvt and the s2 engines have a very similar turbo to the 34's(plastic front wheel).

My 289rwhp(stock turbo) took my car to a 12.7 @ 107 mph. It was a commodore ute but still weighed over 1400kg's..

Looks like the car hooked up ok off the line, you got another tenth or so there with that terminal.

What diff ratio and gearbox did you have?

My R33 is making 265hp with full 3" exhaust, air filter and safc at stock boost (9psi)

I've run a 13.4@105mph, 2.18 60'.

Hoping for 12s with fmic and power fc soon...

If your keeping the stock turbo for this attempt you don't need a fmic at all to do the time. Power FC is a good bet though.

Hey rev210,

Having an auto R33 and not doing over the top mods, what sort of time should one get? and if you don't mind could you list some mods that would help or you recommend? I've seen that you said you had pineapples on, sorry I'm not familiar with what they are (I know it's for better traction) , is it anything major and would effect everyday driving etc?

What I've don so far to it:

3" turbo back exhaust

POD (making an enclosed shield for it)

Stock intercooler

Bigger turbo (not boosted yet)

Cheers!

had mine dynoed at hyper drive (r33 s2)

it's stock turbs with fmic, pob filter,3" dump and zorst std boost setting

did 256rwhp, lumpy said that was alittle high but normal enough

    • I just got to work and skimmed through 61508 and 61511. I was surprised the CSA adopted both, but neither are enforced. To recap what I read, it states that in a perfect world, they should be segregated but they acknowledge that this is not industry standard and clearly mention that they allow mixing of safety and non-safety. 61511 also mentions software segregation like AB does in their safety PLC's.   Now if only I could go back to control, let alone safety over comms. In my current line of work, we're only allowed monitoring and basic control over comms. Everything critical must still be hard wired as much as possible.
    • I've unfortunately never been as they're on the complete other side of the continent and another country that isn't currently letting us in as easily as they use to. I even heard their stop signs over there actually say "Stop" instead of "Arret". If I decided to trek the 48h drive, I wouldn't know when or where to stop haha. Whenever I order parts from UP Garage, I order from Japan as it's cheaper. Same with GKTech... oddly enough, it's cheaper shipped from Australia then it is the US.  UP Garage Japan operates their US leg though, unlike Tomei. If Tomei JPN had the power to close down Tomei USA, I'm sure it would be done in a day. They're two completely separate entities. Tomei JPN messed up somewhere originally agreeing to its creation and got sacked big time.
    • I asked someone about this and he told me about the Audi 1.8T engine. But I think it would be difficult to swap
    • I don't know that machine specifically, but I'd personally go for something with a little more kick than 130amp. Around up to 180 would be good. At the 6mm range, you're really pushing the machine hard and don't have a long period you can run for with out needing to give it a rest. Lots of MIG machines come with a regulator and hose. A lot will come with a starter roll of wire too, but it isn't too expensive to buy. I'd recommend NOT buying a massive roll too, as you don't want it sitting around FOREVER in the machine between uses and potentially going to shit. For thin sheet metal, get a roll of 0.6mm if you're doing over 3mm and above, switch over to 0.8mm wire. Even by 2mm you'd probably really want to switch. As for gas battle, it's all swap and go style now. You'll pay a bottle deposit, and then X amount to swap for a full one. I think it's like $200 or $300 for a D Size bottle upfront as "deposit", and like $110 to $150 per swap. My D size CO2/argon bottle lasts a fair bit of welding on the MIG. And I run an E size bottle on the TIG. For DIY MIG, stick with a D size bottle. If you really start to get into a LOT of welding and doing it really regularly, then upgrade. If you're like most DIY car guys, one D bottle will last you 2 or 3 years easily. I think I've been on my current bottle about 5 years. It is starting to get low, but I've been smashing it a lot more the last 6 months.
    • SR20s came with cars like the Bluebird and Primera, but the RB20 never came. The ones in Turkey were either brought in specially or from abroad. That's why RBs aren't as common as SRs. And if a part breaks or I need to replace it when doing maintenance, it's harder to find parts for RBs.
