New to the forum, just bought myself a manual 1996 Nissan Skyline (Series 2) about 4 months ago. Need some advise to where I should start on modding my car? At the moment my car has the following:

* Cat-Back Exhaust (Will soon fit an APEXI front pipe and Hi-flow cat)

* APEXI Pod Filter (Unshielded)

* HKS Turbo Timer

* Raizin Volt Stabilizer Kit

* Boost Gauge

* 17" RIMS

* Bilstein Suspension

* A/M Clutch - don't know what brand though, it came with the car when I bought it.

This is what I'm planning to put in my car.

1. APEXI POWER FC with Hand Controller

2. APEXI AVC-R Boost Controller ( I actually bought a manual boost controller from EBAY, its just sitting my bedroom at the moment)

3. TOMEI Fuel Pump

4. ARC FMIC - Thinking of buying a hybrid. What do you guys think?

5. HKS GTR-S or should I just Hi-flow my turbo?

6. TOMEI Injectors 555c

7. AFM Z32

8. TOMEI Adjustable Cam Gear

My power goal is around 240rwkw or more. Your input will be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Welcome to the forums.

This is what I'm planning to put in my car.

1. APEXI POWER FC with Hand Controller

Good Choice

2. APEXI AVC-R Boost Controller ( I actually bought a manual boost controller from EBAY, its just sitting my bedroom at the moment)

EBC is obviously better

3. TOMEI Fuel Pump

good idea

4. ARC FMIC - Thinking of buying a hybrid. What do you guys think?

ARC is great - Hybrid or the copies are just as good for the power you're after and much more after that and shit loads cheaper..

5. HKS GTR-S or should I just Hi-flow my turbo?

Check rb25 dyno thread at the top of this section for what turbo's people have used with what power output at what psi etc.. loads of good info for someone in your position

6. TOMEI Injectors 555c

good choice

7. AFM Z32

again as above

8. TOMEI Adjustable Cam Gear

good idea

My power goal is around 240rwkw or more. Your input will be much appreciated.

your list of goodies fitted and tuned by a decent tuner will give you the power you are after.

then it's time for good tyres and suspension setup (try Michelen and whiteline for those 2 I say

Thanks.

My answers are in ITALIC in the quote above.. under your points..

    • My Neo turbo only went last year. Not 35 years old, to be sure - closer to 25. But still.
    • There's no way they left the factory like that. In R chassis there is nothing stopping the steering wheel being put on one spline out from straight, and then adjusting the steering arms to "correct" it (sort of). As well as the indicator cancelling there would also be an issue with how tight you can turn in one direction to the other. The other (less likely) possibility is that the "clock spring" (the circular electronic part that allows the wheel to turn while still having an electrical connection for horn and any other buttons like cruise) might not be in place correctly. I don't have any pics of the R33 (or Stagea) setup but there would be a circular locating tab which sits in the steering column to have it straight...if that is not seated properly then the indicators may not cancel at the right point (and, you might also get a HICAS error since it would think you are driving in circles)
    • It will mostly be bad scoring on the bores, which you can almost certainly fix by machining for oversize pistons. I have to say, I am super surprised that any standard turbos made it 35 years down the track before exploding!
    • Thanks for the info mate was thinking 255/35 rears and 235/40 fronts
    • What's the difference? I would have said that between the front and rear axle lines, there's no noticeable diff between a GTR and an NA 2-door.
