Ok Im looking for advice from people who may have done this, as Im about to go down this road with my GT-R....

basically truck or train? and what were the limitations of these (ground clearance etc etc?)

I have been told by TNT that I need 5 inches... 12.7cm ground clearance to take it on the normal truck?

what about the train? they couldnt answer that question on the phone....

any ideas?

and prices obviously....

On the truck with TOLL will be cheap as, cars going to Adelaide get backloading prices, cheap as because the trucks that take Magnas and Commodores interstate have to come back to move more sub-standard SA built cars.

They won't let you freight the car with anything inside it though

Ben make sure you take extensive, closeup video of the car just before you put it on the truck. Go over the condition report and ask the movers to explain each "Driver door, light scratch".

You'll find that the movers will take off a lot of 'existing damage' and in the event of a claim being necessary, the mover's insurance company will be a LOT more helpful if you have video footage to prove this dent/scratch is new.

I know it sounds cynical, but I've moved eight times with work and had my share of dramas.

Well I'm in Adelaide... and yes moved :) Sydney roads, traffic, police and ugly chicks had got to me finally...

As for the car transport? train was a simple matter of being there for the loading, and giving clear instructions.... once the car was on, the best part was it is a direct service to Adelaide with no stops for loading or unloading... this meaning I just flew over, got to the unloading area before the train did the next day (2pm dep. 3pm arr.) and made sure the guys unloading it did the right thing which they did....

I am sure if left to there own devices it would have been a different story! as they certainly were not the brightest bunch :O

you have to love somewhere like little old Adelaide! 10 mins to the CBD and 6 mins to the roads up mount Lofty! GAME ON....

oh and $40 to go to work once a month :)

Hey guys, been looking at the site for a while now, along with carsales.com.au, I'm in WA, and most of the cars for sale are in the Eastern States (shock horror...). Anyway, how much roughly would it cost to send a car from the Eastern states to WA (Perth).

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The biggest consideration is.. do you really want to buy a car that you haven't seen/driven? :)

I was trying to establish what sort of car you were after, but after reading some of your previous posts, it seems like you want a "cheap" car...

Transporting a car interstate will take a reasonable chunk out of your budget if that's the case.

Maybe decide what sort of car you're after and post up in WTB so that anyone who finds something that fits the bill locally can let you know?

.....i know none of that was related to pricing, but hopefully something in there helps :D

have anyone done it b4? got their car freight interstate?

Cost? and which company recommanded?

time of delivery does not matter.

hey mate

when i moved from melbourne to brisbane, i moved my things with backloads (www.backloads.com)

they had an option to move cars, and based on how they handled my things i can highly recommend them

note: i didn't move my car with them as i drove it up here, but they had the option of doing it

You are looking around $600 - 700 to transport a vehicle from Melbourne to Brisbane or vice versa ;)

Its for my dad, he just got a new Honda Accord euro thing and the dealership said $450. He is moving to QLD in 2 months. Not sure who that quote was through.

Hi Guys and Gals...

I am looking for a reliable and cheap ( I know those words dont usually go well together :happy: ) car transporting company, I am looking to move 2 cars from Brisbane to Perth in around 6 or 7 weeks time... I am starting to do a ring around through the yellow pages but I was hoping some of you guys might be able to give me some info based on first hand experiences....

    • Hey Nismo, any chance in the world you still have these seats?
    • I'd say closer to OG GTX3582R, just smaller trim - so 59mm inducer/82mm exducer as opposed to 62/82 for the first gen GTX3582R. Yeah EFRs were boss, the EFR8474 is still an absolute beast and it perplexes me that people still go to things like Turbosmart/Garrett etc when the results people are getting with those are pretty unremarkable compared to what you could get with a turbo available well before those options came out.  DriftSquid (I think) "upgraded" from an EFR9174 to a Turbosmart turbo and promised a comparison video - and kinda shuffled awkwardly and did a bit of diversion from the fact that they didn't get any improvement going to the currently massively hyped brand of turbo from a turbo that was a bit of a frankenstein that had been well superceded in it's own range before the Turbosmart unit he put on there even came out. I suspect the EFR would outperform most Xonas for what a lot of less-insane RB owners would go for, in the 400-600kw range but the Xonas are looking hard to beat up to maybe in the mid 700kw range at this stage- basically where EFRs don't really reach, and before the Precision turbos take over.  What the Xonas do well in the "EFR range" is be easier to package etc, and work very well if a divided housing doesn't suit your application.  
    • Are you sure the gasket is blown? What are the issues? Thermocure is the only flush I've seen do anything with rust, very impressed with that, Prestone, rust will be by the pool having a cigarette.  
    • And since the flush you have a blown head gasket? Have you lifted the head off yet?
    • The answer is to get a hold of the wiring diagram, work out what voltage is supposed to be where, when, and then work out why it is not there, then. I can't speak to the HR34 stuff, because I have never paid any attention to the NAs. There is a possibility that the turbo diagram will help, but it could also be different - depending on whether there is an FPCM on the NAs.
