Hi Guys,

I need to install my FMIC and will need to cut out the front intrusion bar (to fit my Hybrid Intercooler as per the specifications). The car will have to go through the pits after all the modifications and i want to make sure that i don't get pinned for having a modified (cut) front intrusion bar.

I don't think they will look.

Or should i wait till i get it over and then finish of the intercooler and piping. Until then i will have to re-install the old intercooler from my R33.

Advice would save me time and mucking around.

yes its illegal. but in most cases they dont look.

i was driving around with no front bar, and most of my front bar support has been chopped away to fit my fmic and front bar. got pulled over and they didnt say anything about the amount of metal i took off, but how the exposed corners of it could cut someone that walks past my car.

i wouldnt risk it unless you had a front bar on. they cant ask you to take your front bar off to check can they?

my mate got pulled up and he had cut about 10mm of o get the cooler in and they just put their hand up there and felt that it had been cut and they told him he had to reinforce it. i'm putting a new bar on where i have to cut half the front out so i'm making a bracket to go around the bottom so hopefully they will let me off

are you worried about the safety aspect or just the legality? do you think there is a reason nissan thought you should have a solid bar there?

Doing any modifications to ur car is defectable because it is changing what the manufacturer inteded.

Meh that isnt going to stop anybody from modifying their cars.

stuff like that you just have to take a gamble, just do it neatly and they shouldnt pick up on it.

ive chopped my front intrusion bar for my fmic. i'll be welding some extra steel from the side bracket thingo to the front intrusion bar, then a flat bar across to give it some more tensile strength.

ill post pics once its all done
