Trust turbo's

Rob, The garett turbo's are great, you just have to understand what effect they will have, and don't bolt one on randomly. HKS have slightly better trims but value for money the garett's win.

R33 Impul,

I have a friend who is custom making my manifold, but there are a number of people around town who can do it.

HKS don't give out the exact sizing or trim of there turbo's, therefore you would have to pull one apart to find out. I don't think comparing one turbo to another is very useful, just buy the one that will do the job. I am thinking of the GT3040, as it will be much cheaper than the HKS GT3037S.

We know :P

But HKS design there own wheels and cores with Garrett housings so u cant make your own HKS turbo unless u could get an exact HKS replica wheel..

Anyway back on track......

Are trust turbos water cooled?

There is no way you can make an HKS turbo out of Garrett parts.

Garrett supplies the parts for HKS which are different to Garrett retail parts itself. There's an agreement between Garrett & HKS that Garret will never provide those HKS-specific parts to others except HKS alone.

Lots of ppl tried and they failed to get the same power out of retail Garrett parts. HPI magz also confirmed this can't be done. Get a genuine HKS one is the only solution. This is the way HKS protects their business.

Guys, if you are chasing a HKS turbo, I picked up a brand new GT3037S56T from http://www.fvej.com/perform.htm and it cost me $2700 delivered to my door.

Absolutely brand new - still had all the tape/plastic intact.

As you can imagine, I am pretty stoked, thought I'd put the word out as they told me they are pretty keen to get into the australian parts market.

Yeah I am pretty wrapped - I was going to get one of Grant's, but he got back logged with the e-mails and this one came up before he replied - about $100 more expensive - couldn't resist as the new price on the GCG website is $5880.

Will let you guys know what its like when its in, but it will be a couple of months yet still got plenum, manifold, injectors, headwork, etc to go first.

GTS-t VSPEC,

I am pretty sure that they dont come up too often at that price. I asked what was available and first off all he had was a few (about 4 or 5) different TD06s. Then this one came up so I grabbed it. Might be worth dropping him a line, let him know what you are after and asking him to keep an eye out.

I'm not even 100% that this will be big enough now - seriously thinking an RB30 conversion will be the go - it might be just a little on the small side? Just seems a shame to get it so cheap and then not even give it a spin.
