Hey guys, I have a ATS LSD in my car. I think its 2 way. My prob is that not only does it shudder its jumping around a bit now I dont know if its related to the suspension too much slack in the diff or what. Its only whist turning although you can hear it knock on accel and decell. I changed my oil to redline diff oil and from then it seems to have gone down hill ( have read that some people have gone off redline and reduced the noise by using castrol or motul).

Also its not the bushings as I have put in subframe kit. straight line its fine.

Anyideas people.

I got the same prob just started up now. Basically same mods, same car etc. I know mine is suspension. One of the rear shocks has died. So I can notice it on some corners. I think it would be easier to drive if both had carked it, not just the one. It is not very nice to drive atm.

Thats my car anyway. Yours might be different. If you have coil-overs have a look, see if there is oil all about. Do that push on the car and watch it bounce back up trick.

I would have suggested bushes. but that's not the problem,

check if your wheel bearings are ok, and that driveshaft boots aren't leaking or if there is play in the driveshafts.

Jack up car from rear, and shake each wheel to check for movement. though if the oil made it worse, then it's probably diff related. Consider - shims on diff install, driveshafts & pinion etc.

I worked on an rx7 diff where you actually have a thread to position the centre between the bearings so that you can adjust the amount of movement / space between the pinion and the ring gear -- apparently you have to be quite precise in this adjustment to avoid damaging the diff. Skyline diffs have fixed shims to do this, so might be a long shot, but shims may have worn down or installed wrong.

Some people find aftermarket mech 2-ways are quite harsh when they lock up, you may just have a fresh 2-way and it's all normal. Also mech diff's which have not been bed in correctly when new can be a bit noisier than normal.

I replaced the drive shaft and that did nothing, its either the bushes or the diff. Do you know if you can replace the shims on an aftermarket diff, from the looks of it the spacers/shims are totally different on an aftermarket diff. There is definitly some play in the diff at the moment and it needs tightening up
