Hey guys i need to find out wat my cars doin and wat could be the cause...Im kind of worried and would really apreciate all the help u can give, I know this is long winded just giveing all the info i can,

Background: I have a 1989 hcr32 4 door, genuine 71thou kms with log books, was auto converted to manual (not sure if the auto comp is still attatched, , every thing was goin fine after the conversion, K&N Pannel filter, X force Front pipe(fitted 100kms ago) no catback thou, besides that compleatly stock, serviced every 5thou, im using Royal Purple motor oil, and Redline gear oilive put 13 thou km on it

Problem: The last 2months (2 tho kms) b4 my last 5thou km service, when i started the car cold the revs wouldnt build and wouldnt kick over unless i tapped the gas peddel it then starts and idles fine, 3 weeks ago i had it serviced and the problem is still there, wat i am also noticing is that it revs high at idle some times like 1500rpm but then drops to 900rpm, and when the air con is turned on its only adjusts teh revs some times but some times they drop to 400rpm, i get really bad Km's out of a tank. even when i drive like a nan, i know im driving a skyline and i expect high consumption, im currently on this tank of petrol see exactly wat i get out a tank but at 3/4 tank 86kms??? driving really rev less,

Thoughts: Some sensor isnt working, like teh sensor that determines idle speed and cold start, ??? : 02 sensor? i dunno

I hope that infomation helps and any questions that would help diagnose the problem please ask.

Thanks Guys

Brett

Try:

Cold start air valve, located under the plenum (near #5)

Auxilliary (Idle) Air valve, on the back of the plenum

Water temp sensor (single pin sensor, where top radiator hose joins inlet manifold).

  • 3 weeks later...
Cold air valve is that same as PCV or PCM Valve ???

and

Water temp. senor

How can i check those twon are in good working ?

i didnt end up doin any of that,

it ended up being a fuel line, with 17 years that kinda stuff is gonne be sus,

it was the fuel line from the fuel pump into the filter,

so yea chaged it, and starts like a dream,

cheers
