Gianni
Hello all, Can anyone tell me out there what size exactly are the original size of the rear speakers in an R33 coz I'm looking at replacing the original's with an exact fitment from the pioneer range if possible! predator
Front is standard 6 1/2" but will take 6" .. rears are 6".. make sure they're fairly low profile so as to not come down too much onto the HICAS module in the boot, etc. edit: i could be wrong on the rears, might need to check. Maybe they're same as the fronts and will take either anyway, here is all the old stuff with info on how to take out parcel shelves, etc: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/archive/ Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/11163-r33-gts-t-rear-speakers/#findComment-185820 Share on other sites
Gianni
Thank's Predator, Would you know of hand if there are any Pioneer speakers for the rear that I could use without modifying anything? meaning keeping the original set up? Thanks, Gianni Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/11163-r33-gts-t-rear-speakers/#findComment-186666 Share on other sites
pushead
if you planning to get 6 1/2 then you don't have to modify anything eg: cuting boot etc.. as they should fit in perfectly. riggaP
6.5 inch in the rears. I spent an hour making wooden spacers for them... pushead is 100% correct Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/11163-r33-gts-t-rear-speakers/#findComment-205359 Share on other sites
Frosty
if you dont want to do anything major then just mount 6 1/2 inched in the old slots and use the factor grills that are on the parcel shelf to cover them. otherwise you could do what i did an put pioneer 6x9s and custom made a parcel shelf for the back dash Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/11163-r33-gts-t-rear-speakers/#findComment-216958 Share on other sites

rs73
would low profile speakers means they will have inferior bass response? Since the better ones usually have larger magnets and thus may intrude to the hicas system behind it. Guest wontok
Somethin to consider, I put all my cash into the front stage and got rid of the rears all together. Sounds awesome, but it's all up to personal taste. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/11163-r33-gts-t-rear-speakers/#findComment-266690 Share on other sites
MotoX
yeah i got a pair of mb quart splits, cost a mint but i got them on special. their awesome, but they were too big for the stock holes to i had to custom make them into the doors. also made a hold in the doors for the tweeter. looks like it came like that from the factory, im quite happy with them. they are loud as hell but i didnt buy them for bass, ive got 2 12" kicker comps in my garage, jsut need a box and amp. im only running front speakers atm just like u wontok. going to get some 3ways for the rear, and run them jsut of the headunit. may i sugest taking in the black speaker holder thats behind the door and test fitting your speakers or else u will spend 4hrs+ making custom door mounts ect. Chris Rogers
fronts are a 6.5" rears are a 6.5" philips 3 ways are a bolt in idea as are the larger pioneer items. the 6" ones require a steel/ wooden plate to fit properly. clarion 6" will also fit and come with teh adapting plate for nissan cars ( the originals are clarion.) Wild33
hey guys, its 11:30pm, and i am trying to take out the darn 6 inches from the rear parcel shelf, but there is a nuisance 'baby anchor plate' across my 6's, because i going to replace with explods 6X9's, but the question is HOW DO I TAKE OFF THE TOP (BROWN WOODEN + CARPET TOP LAYER PARCLE SHELF) OFF???, so i can get to the bolts which removes the baby anchors?
