002doc
Hi all, just fitted a turbosmart V port to my R32 and I ended up putting the standard BOV valve back on as a I felt the V port gave me less power, any ideas? Is it in my head? Cheers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/112071-atmospheric-bov-less-power/ Share on other sites
fEkuaR
it would give you less power all it will achieve is a wanker noise the standard blow off valve is extremely good there is no need to replace it the car is designed and tunes to run a plumb back. paulr33
at a guess its dumping built up pressure (to amto) rather than recirculating it, which would make a bit more laggy on gearchanges Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/112071-atmospheric-bov-less-power/#findComment-2065766 Share on other sites
carl h
a bov wont add to the power nor subtract from it. my guess is that the bov was leaking and causing boost to leak out hence the feel of "less power", stock one will leak too after a certian ammount of perssure neccistating the need to upgrade to a better bpv or a bov. lows_13
Is it worth upgrading the standard BOV, but keep it as a plumback system. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/112071-atmospheric-bov-less-power/#findComment-2066358 Share on other sites
paulr33
no its not, for some good reading google the apss xr6 turbo kits. check out phase III and then click on the notes about the bov. this will give some insight into upgrading them and why Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/112071-atmospheric-bov-less-power/#findComment-2066367 Share on other sites

ORIGIN
Hey how do you think a stock R32 GTS-T bov will go with 18-20 psi? are they still good or would i need an upgrade Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/112071-atmospheric-bov-less-power/#findComment-2066461 Share on other sites
lows_13
Think the standard one might be leaking. Is there any benefit to blocking off the standard BOV and letting the actuator do all the work? GIGOLO
Could you use a second Gts-t BOV and have it welded onto the pipework? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/112071-atmospheric-bov-less-power/#findComment-2066932 Share on other sites
TTT
Think the standard one might be leaking. Is there any benefit to blocking off the standard BOV and letting the actuator do all the work? bov and actuator are 2 very differnet things that do 2 very different jobs. one does not do the work of the other.. say for example, I was to knee cap you for asking bov questions. it would be like me saying, it's ok cause you can use your eye lids to do the work of your legs.. see... doesn't really work the same..
