By the time I start the car, reverse out the garage, lock the garage, reverse out of the unit block probably a minute warm up then just take it easy until up to temperature. I think that is enough.

Besides I don't think I have read a petrol car man. yet that doesn't recommend some warm up time, but they always add somewhere that they do not recommend long idle periods aswell.

warming up is a must especially if the oil you are using has its best viscosity at higher temps.

2-5 mins is not difficult, ie start the car then get your stuff together then by the time you are on the road the temp is almost at normal operating temp. It is still advisable to drive slow for a while (if you try to drive hard it won't want to anyway).

MY dad's R31 executive is pushing 400k on the clock and doesn't burn oil and the tranny fluid is still pink!

...the proof is in the pudding!
