Rezz
Vaccinations? No. Well... on the other hand you *could* call the Japanese government and let them know you're coming (another foreigner!!!) so they can fumigate the place before your disease-ridden arrival *remembers the mini panic in the days before the World Cup 2002 of all the foreigners coming with god knows what diseases. Yorik
The Pimsluer system is quite easy to learn basic (very) Japanese quickly.. After that I would say get the Lonely Planet Guides, and start searching some of the Gaijin visitor sites.. There is heaps.. My bookmark list is massive, but still very aimed at my interests..
