My R34 is on its way and recently Ive just learnt that it comes with factory xenons. Many thanks to the new import laws, now they would be modified and changed to halogens in the compliance process :P . Does anyone have a spare set of R34 halogen lights lying around that I can borrow for a few weeks so I can use it to comply the car, or know anywhere I can hire them.On the same topic did most of you guys that had imported a 34 in Perth get to keep your factory xenons.

Any advice would be great :P because I really want to keep the xenons.

My factory xenons are still sitting at home.

If I knew how they were originally installed I'd probably do it as the compliance halogens are dim even compared to other halogens.

I don't think the compliance ones cost all that much, maybe $120?

Im guessing they didnt modify your headlights to fit the halogens, at least you still got to keep your xenons. Yeah for sure mate the xenon looks heap better, im sure someone on SAU would be able to help you on the installation. Haha if only they are that cheap I was told the halogen lights are around $500 each.

My halogens are just glued inside the original headlights.

If you don't manage to get a compliance headlight kit talk with your complaincer and work out if it's legal to remove the headlights before delivering the car to them.

Mine were effectively destroy because legally they have to, I just got to keep the left overs.

They probably can be repaired but I don't know if anything is missing from them as I don't have the instructions they used to remove them.

Ohh I see, so they did destory your xenon cause I thought they just took it out and installed a set of halogens on your car. Alwell wish I had got off my arse to import a R34 before the new law came in haha.

i been stoped heapsa times by cops tryina yellow sticker me for some parts they dont even know what.. however only one cop noticed my r34s lights xenon and told me he will sticker me for it i told him this is what they come with stock and this is how the car has been complied he assured me it was not the stock and told me he will let it go but i need to change them.. i do have a permit for all the parts that they recond i needed permits for at the pits. just try to take ur lights out b4 they get distroyed my friend these lights are real nice specialy when highbeemin :D

good luck with the car and compliance..

they dont destroy the parts anymore they give them to the customer so once complianceis passed tya can put emback on

drmafia - How did you get to keep your xenons? Did you take them out before compliance and replaced it with halogens? Because I was told I needed a set of halogens to keep the xenons and they arent cheap haha. Yeah technically they are stock just print out a spec sheet of the r34 keep it in your car and show it to the cops next time they try to have a go. Yeah for sure makes a big difference lucky u got to keep yours buddy.

gazza750 - Oh sounds like a peice of cake mate haha, but I was told unless I get a set of halogens they would have to modify the headlight. So I dont think I can just replace the xenons back correct me if Im wrong.

did i say it sounds like a piece of cake ? all i said is that they do not destroy them like they used to they give them to the owner

i think it depends on the workshop doing the compliance and how they have been passed... i read on one of these posts on this giant SAU of ours something to that effect.

so if they originally did an r34 compliance by destroying the lights then that is the way it always has to be done...

but heck i am no raw

I didnt say u said that mate, all I was implying is that you make it sound easy thats all :ermm: . When complying the car they have to modify the headlight therefore even if they give me back wats left of the parts I wouldnt be able to just simply convert them back to xenons. If it was that simple I wouldnt be going through this process of trying to find me another set of halogen headlights :D .

The lights had to be changed under the old rules too.

My R34 was one of the first and no one was converting them yet so I bought a new set of Halogen lights off Nissan for about a $1000 then changed them out and sold the Halogens on for about $700.

That's an option. I don't believe these modded lights are tested or a long term proposition but that's my opinion only of course.

R34 - Oh I see I thought under the old rule they let you keep the old xenons. Dont think i have a 1k lying around since the car has already killed my bank balance. But im really keen to keep the factory xenons.....

hey champ.

the place where you are getting your car complied should have a set of original R34 lights as the car was not factory standard with Xenon. If they dont you will have to source a set and borrow some as in NSW that they pull off the Xenons for complience. If it is a GTR your front bar has to come off to put them on. Its a bitch pulling the bar off and then back on

Im pretty sure all gtt comes with factory xenons from Jap. Nah the workshop where im getting my 34 complied dont have a spare set that why im trying to find a pair. Wish I was getting a R34 Gtr dont we all :(, just one powerball.......

I have just this weekend hooked back up the xenon lights in my 34. I thought the old halogen globes looked ok, but man what a difference! The xenon’s are champion! The compliance mob just left the xenon system intact etc, they just unhooked them. They put in an adapter type plate that fits into the hole that the xenon globe originally fits into. And wired up a normal halogen globe. So it can be done with your xenon headlights. There should be no need to put in different headlight assemblies etc. And like what the other guys said, i think it just depends on who is compliancing the car and how by they book they are.

Cheers for the info Luke, nice looking R34 you have there  if thats yours in your avatar. Yeah definately mate makes a huge difference, the halogen globes sucks compared to the xenons. Can you pm me which workshop complied your car ?

    • That still isn't a lot to go on. I don't have a Y50 Fuga Head Unit wiring diagram. I can say that a lot of nissans of that age shared head unit plugs, so if you are in Australia something like this would probably help: https://aerpro.com/app091# You plug that into the car loom, then either plug the head unit ISO into that (if it has ISO), or you buy and ISO adapter harness that you wire in. Bit of stuffing around, but once you have ISO its easy to change things in future.
    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
