I've had it with jacks and stands.

I'm going the car hoist in the shed at home. Seriously.

The shed floor has already been built to accomodate one of the latest models of infloor twin scissorlift car hoist. I hope to have it all done in the next few months.

Benefits;

* Lifts from frame suspending wheels

* No car too low. (complety flat flush drive-on-off)

* Fits in small area (3m ok, no need to increase the width of my shed as a 2 or 4 post would of)

* quick prep for lift

* No posts. No hitting car doors against posts. Easy in and out of car at no and low lift.

* Lifts car 1.9m

* When down, people wouldn't even know you had a car hoist. Very tidy.

Costs - $6k inc install.

Some photos attached of these hoists in action in workshops and my own shed floor being constructed.

It'll never be a 'public place' as I always been quite secretive where my car resides. I assume most GTR owners are like this? However ....those that I come to know and trust would be welcome. As a facility it can hold a number of cars in the apron asphalt carpark. It is on acerage (so anyway parking isn't a problem) and it can't be seen from the road. The shed is currently being used for storage until we build a house. Hence the workshop side of things may not be set up for a while. I'll get some current photos tommorrow...it's a 3 bay + workshop colourbond shed (4m high), the floor has just been finished....2 pack epoxy grey, floor lights in the slab at hoist area, mezzanine floor over workshop, 3 phase power and fluro lights installed. My crowning feature will be a 2m "NISSAN " fluro dealership sign (90's style logo)

Shud be very cool.

holy crap...sounds like it will be amazing once its done :P

Oh baby... She looks hot...

PS. I just showed the Mrs and she said "NO"...

I mean i didnt even say anything...

So i notice you have a bit of storage area above the end bit too there. Very smart, and a water tank and pump setup. Also very smart, i wish i had what you have there. Its a perfect setup.

Plus you went the extent of putting down bitch-a-men all the way down to the shed. You are a quick mover the other day it was all wet cement and now its ready for some cars... WOW...

You even got enough driveway for a donut pad...

I have come to the conclusion you had the shed assembled as when i did my titan it took 4 guys about 8 hours to put the frame up and then me by my self about 60-70 hours to do the rest... So you must have got it installed yeah...

With the water tank the cement the shed and the driveway you have spent enough to buy a GTR there....

But its worth it....

The photo during the slab construction was months ago. But still I did get the shed company to do the install. Only took them a couple of days (2 guys) I suspected it would of taken me much more.

lol i went and got me a $40 jack from super/cheap auto the outhere day the dam thing wont evan lift my skyline hi anuf to remove one of the rims lol what a rip off ay. I think i might go and get me a trolly jack :(

LOL my wife said 'NO' too!

I hear you... but there is an easy fix

a) send the wife and best friend to Cherside for a few hours shopping

b) tell her that everything you purchased was on sale! (50% off)

good luck Rob, the setup looks great!

    • Wife wanted basket things in the wardrobe in our temporary house. Thought about ripping our the wardrobe and fitting the entire IKEA set, but it's a temporary house and we want to move in a few years. So IKEA advertises this as a 50cm unit, however the actually basket and rails measure 46cm wide. Only issue was depth, IKEA stuff is quite deep, where as the builder special junk is super shallow at less than 40cm. Send it, chopped the rails, then offset the mounting holes, job done, happy wife, less shit scattered all over the bedroom. Did the same to the other side too. Also drove the Skyline shit box today, dropped off oil at Supercheap Auto. I didn't realise they only now take max 2x bottles per visit. I visited 2x Supercheap Autos.
    • I've seen similar actually in my situation. You never know what tables are attempted to be used when the car thinks it's -99C or +200C. The fail state is not usually that extreme but you know what I mean - it was in my case though! This is where being able to read all the sensors is useful cause you see this stuff really quickly.
    • The above is very important. However as long as you keep timing relatively low, it's plausible to make your own knock ears and plausible to learn to tune with a modern ECU that can do wideband O2 correction like a boost controller. I mean if you only have one viable road to even drive the car on, learning to tinker to this level may be worth doing given you can't do much else with the car...?
    • I find the fact that the rear plate has to be bent inwards at the rear not so bad: but the front is just awful: It's like come on. (these are my very old, now retired/turned in plates) TBH it is a lot of money to fix a minor issue, the fact I said "I'll never really spend the money on doing this" is why people ended up buying them as a gift for a 'car guy' who can be hard to shop for.. for car guy things.
    • I just bent the ends of my premo plates. It even went through Regency like that after the engine conversion and the inspector (a great bloke!) just squinted his eyes and said "I didn't see that". Plates, and how they look, are just something that have zero importance to me.
