BOOSTD
ok NOS is partly o2 in a compressed form which enables more power from say a restrictive intercooler for the same area of oxygen, NOS has a much greater density of o2. When you heat nitrous oxide to about 570 degrees F (~300 C), it splits into oxygen and nitrogen. When it vaporizes, nitrous oxide provides a significant cooling effect on the intake air. When you reduce the intake air temperature, you increase the air's density, and this provides even more oxygen inside the cylinder. This overcums much of the flow restriction and heat related power loss. And since NOS is injected after the intercooler....the size of the intercooler has less effect on max power out put. So as for being pointless and bearing no relevance, that is your veiw. Were I was pointing out that with the assistance of NOS a 10second time with ANY stock cooler would be more feasible. paulr33
i agree, of course. but the disussion is against the stock cooler and replacing it with trust unit or xyz aftermarket unit. Scooby
I understand that the 33/34 GTR fmic will flow more bit is not more efficient than the 32 unit. I'd like to think the JJ ones are as good as the aftermarket type but I guess until someone does a test it's hard to say. itbmils
guys i am not trying to find what is better than the stock cooler more the difference between a 600 dollar just jap cooler and a 2500 grand TRUST cooler that both are 600X300X100? my advice is to talk to the guys at ARE here in Qld - a phone call is CHEAP They may have done the tests you are looking for They will be able to tell you why not all coolers are created equal even if you don't buy one of their coolers - I've had a couple of 30 mins calls with them - they are VERY helpful NO I do not own the company NO I do not work there either again - my 2c worth Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/112618-gtr-intercoolers-trust-just-jap/page/3/#findComment-2096472 Share on other sites
Scooby
guys i am not trying to find what is better than the stock cooler more the difference between a 600 dollar just jap cooler and a 2500 grand TRUST cooler that both are 600X300X100? Hi GTR 94, I think the only way you will get the answer that you are rightly seeking is to do a LOT of research. Try speaking to the distributors ie Advan/ARE/JJ to see how they rate their coolers. Be prepared for a bit of frustration though because it's likely they either won't know or the way they measure wil be different. It's a constant source of amazement that aftermarket suppliers can't provide test results etc for a lot of their big ticket items but people keep buying their stuff so what can you expect? For example some time ago there was a thread on dump pipes - $1800 for CES ones and $1500 for Trust - and no one knows, including the suppliers, what their baseline worth is in terms of performance. As itbmills wrote, a call to someone like ARE will probably arm you with a whole lot of knowledge regarding how FMIC are rated etc. and it might be best to call them before you speak to anyone else so they know you've done your homework. Sorry that doesn't answer your question but I think it's the only path likely to yield the info you need. Hope to hear of some good results.
