R33 Airbag Steering Wheel

Im looking at a s2 r33 which has an aftermaket steering wheel. Now i thought that in NSW a car that came from the factory with a airbag steering wheel needed to be fitted with them.

So my question is how hard are they to source a stock steering wheel and more importantly to fit? Is it that hard or is it just a case of mounting it and connecting the wires(horn+airbag)?

I think the s14 steering wheels are the same?

Need help asap, so any advice is appreciated!

Fitting it is easy, exactly as you said.

Not sure about S14 steering wheels being the same? Never seen one.

The S2 steering wheels aren't easy to find, and expect to pay a couple of hundred....

Well if they are that easy it should be alright? but you dont need special tools or anything?

Was just a bit worried about the airbag assembly.

Ummm T50 Torx bit, but you can get that from anywhere.... and a big arse socket for the big nut in the center

Yeah s14a's and series 2 skylines share the same steering wheel.

Should also be able to use the 180SX Type-X airbag wheel:

So the steering wheel itself contains the devices used to deploy it? The car just sends and electric signal to the wheel?

Is the s14a and the 180sx type x from '97 on?

180SX is from 1996.

Add N15 Pulsar SSS to your list. They had the same wheel too (in the S2s at least).

Sounds like Nissan went a bit cheap on supplying different models with different wheels. Just give them all the same!

Are the S2 steering wheels the same as the S1?

Generally no as Series1 R33s hardly ever came with a drivers side airbag.

On the other hand, almost all Series 2 R33s have driver/passenger side airbags.

But the S1 that did have the air bag option were the same steering wheel as a S2?

no the S1 airbag wheel is different to the S2

Could you go into a bit more detail as to why the S1 airbag wheel is different to the S2 airbag wheel? Size/shape/fitting/stitching/etc?

My S1 has the dual airbag option and it is a 3 spoke wheel, not 4 like S2

This is a series one steering wheel with airbag, some gtsts have them ( series 1.5 95 models ) and all 95 model GTRs . The one in the above post is series II ( by wink)
