Hi-flow cat 3" $250 -300. I have no cat, which is better than gutting it, an empty cat still creates turbulance, which is bad. You can buy a cat remover, which comes with tags to add a cat exterior over a straight bit of pipe.

Is this legal?

T.

Any removal of a cat is ilegal!(These cat remover pipes are for competition use only)

Also it's $250-$300 + fitting cause they aren't bolt in items!!

Carsound is a good brand of high flow cats!!, and they are true high flow cats!(have fitted hundreds of the them, mostly to Holden's and Ford's though but have done a few Skyline's, Supra's , Soarer's and a few other imports!

And for all those who think that the term "high flow cat" is an oxy-moron.

Here is some tests done on a LS-1 chev(sorry couldn't find a Skyline one) with modifying the standard cats and comparing them to high flow ones on the flow bench.

Here is the link:

Also I personaly couldn't run my car without a catalytic converter as the power increase would only be approx 3%, and even less compared to a high flow catalytic converter, this also would make any car a rolling defect notice and make it even more destructive to the atmosphere!

MEGA

I had a high-flow cat in mine, and since it's removal have had no issues and the car is producing more power. I had to remove it to run rotational idle and anti-lag, I don't recommend this approach to most people, just those after serious power. And yes there are legal and enviromental rammifications.

i just bought a 3 inch catco cat which should be hear next week.

its a stainless steal one too. will let u know how it is. but i will not be able to tell the difference as it will be on the car from the very start once it gets started up.

Bit confused on the difference between gutting a cat and fitting a 3-inch hi flow cat.

What is the advantage / disadvantage of doing either ??

When you say gutting the cat, does that mean the standard cat or an aftermarket one ??

Reason i ask is that i have a 3-inch dump into a 2.5 inch cat and then 3 inch piping from the cat back.

Which one is going to work better for me - gutting the 2.5inch cat or fitting a 3inch high flow ??

i think by gutting he is refering to just having a straight through pipe with the cat casing on the outside to keep it looking leagal

i think u should go the 3" pipe, i always like doing something properly from the start unless its way out of reach. if u have to pay that little bit extra then do it otherwise u will pay for a 2.5, then want a 3" and so your paying more than u originally would of

Hey guys,

I know the guy who produces the parts for CATCO (Jappsport uses their cats for compliance and he comes by to sell them to us), so I can get any1 thats interested, a CATCO 3 INCH HI-FLOW CAT with the flanges for $160. You can come and pick it up from where I work in liverpool, sydney (Jappsport) or i can ship it to you interstate for a little extra.

I can also get 3 inch dump+front pipes (one piece, easy to bolt on) for r33 and r32 for $260.

If you want a 3 inch stainless steel pipe, its $100 extra.

I can also supply you with front+dump pipes for 180sx.

These I get from the same person that produces the cats for CATCO.

cheers

BATMBL: How about the above parts for an R34?

Can you get the CATCO cat and dump / font pipes? And are the prices similar?

I already have a 3.5 inch cat-back exhaust. I am assuming this stuff would complete my exhaust system?

Thanks!

    • It doesn't really answer your question...but is the head unit full android or just android auto, are you happy with how quickly it boots and responds, and do you have a link?  If we can identify good Android alternatives it will really help people stuck with Japanese screens. Did it have a separate reverse camera input so you would replace the factory one, or are you just going without now...that would be a pretty big steps back. And finally, do you have a picture of the "wire" that you can't plug in? Most likely it is some sort of aerial that is not too important eg japanese traffic or am radio or something if you haven't noticed a functionality issue
    • haha funny enough I did ask him wtf he had been up to with the electrics....but no answer
    • For a daily just run Akebono ceramic pads. That's what they're optimized for. Obviously don't try to run it on track or anything like that.
    • Hey all, I'm sorry if this has been discussed before.  I have a 2008 Japanese import V36 coupe with nav but without Bose. I bought one of those AliExpress android screens, which for the most part works really well.  The only thing that doesn't work is the air con controls (well sort of) and the factory reverse camera.  The AC can be controlled fine but it doesn't report the change in temp and mode to the screen, and the volume knob/other audio controls from the panel don't register on the learning app.  I am pretty certain that the problem is the difference in the head unit between base model (Nav but no Bose) 2007-2009 coupes and anything after 2009.  Mine is the one with the blue connector all the way to the right as seen in this forum post:  The reason I think this is there is one wire left over that doesn't fit anywhere on this head unit, or in the factory screen which also uses different connectors to more recent versions.  I've seen the upgrade from OWC, and have sent the guy a message on eBay but no response yet.  I also don't particularly need the whole kit, just *maybe* an adapter for this one cable.  Did anyone else here have the same problem, or have any insight about what I can do to get this working?  I have been in contact with the seller but all they seem to be able to do is ask for more pictures and videos. Minor edit to add:  I have been researching and found a screen on Aliexpress that actually specifies my head unit in the listing, so these things do exist.  I will contact the seller to see if the wiring adapters are interchangeable with other screens.   Thanks in advance!
