Can everyone let me know if anyone would be interested in stock rear spoilers?

I am thinking if we all chip in to buy an original, I can get it copied in fibreglass here and then we can get them on the cheap? Not sure about costs, but id wanna try to get them around ~150$ delivered?

Let me know,

Alex

No, this is not. I want a wing, I am getting a wing. If others want one, I am going to offer it.

The difference is that a wing is under 200 bucks....a body kit is big and 1000's of dollars.

I am going to go speak to someone tomorrow about making a mould.

I would want people to chip in to buy the original together, then ill make copies and then as the copies are distributed we will get balance payments.

The first unit will be ~$250 to buy off yahoo japan, delivered to my door here.

Ill work out prices tomorrow for everyone.

Spoke to my dude, if i can get a wing to make a mould of, he will do it.

At the moment they are looking as if they will cost around $200 delivered up the east coast in a gel coat fibreglass finish.

it may be that i will borrow humbles wing to copy, we will see everything that happends

More names?

If its anything to you, I have a standard wing sitting on my shelf waiting to be colour matched and fitted.

You can borrow it for your mold.

P.S. It's not for sale, so, no one get any ideas. It's just been sitting there for 6 months so another couple without it aint gonna hurt.

P.P.S I dont know what freight will cost to get it from Gympie QLD

Oh, by the way, id be borrowing the wing for no more than 3 weeks from the day you send it.

3 days postage, 4 days to get the mould made, 2 days me being a bum, 3 days postage back. 13 working days.

Sooo.... can we get more names down for this? Prelim price as above, ~$200 delivered australia wide

Okly dokly, the standard wing (Genuine Nissan part) I have is 150mm long (front to back). It is 1200mm wide (hangs just over the edge of the car down to the glass window line) and 20mm thick (top edge sits 20mm above the top of the car).

It sits flush on the rear door. It is fastened via three bolts - one at each end on the pieces of black plastic that sit inline with the roof rails and one in the middle, directly in front of the windscreen washer/sprayer. The fastening nuts are moulded into the wing. So fixing via the black plastic bits should be easy to do( and hide if you decide to reverse the procedure), but the middle one will require drilling the rear door and wont be easy to hide.

Also, it is held by double sided tape along the leading edge and dust foam around the rear and sides. Basically there is no daylight between the car and the wing. So it really helps to square off the tail of the car without looking too hardcore/try hard.

Where the dibble dabble are you Alex - Melbourne? I'll check out Busfreight tomorrow, they should do it on the cheap for me.

Shall attempt to get hold of a digi camera to reel off a couple of photos for you. For now I think the closest to it is like EGA41T (in the "I'm buying a stagea S2 manual" thread) and it is not like Terminal's signature picture showing 3 stageas all with much larger wings.

Hope this helps and doesnt put anyone off the idea if it is not hardcore enough,

I am in Melbourne but I can arrange shipping of the wing if you cant. Ill get a courier to come pick it up from you, probably TNT or something.

Wont be hard to get the nuts set into the mould, shouldnt be much extra cost either, if anything.

It is safe to presume that nissan have left the holes under the black rail stuff there, but i dont like the centre hole. I may try to deisgn out the centre hole as i am sure the guys that are putting the wing on dont want to drill, as i dont.

I will try to supply some really good double sided tape for replacing that centre bolt, also for the whole length across.

I presume the wing you have looks like this?

I am also tempted to make the copies slightly more "pointy" on the ends to resemble this style of wing. I think this is not over the stop, but gives a slightly sleeker look compared to the semi-squared off end the stock wing has.

Does anyone have photos of their stock stock wing, then a stock dayz wing and then any aftermarket wing? Id love to compare them all.

3intheback, if you could also post a photo of the wing, that would be great for us to study. But for now.....

Alex you know I'm very very very interested, but because of the move and the new job, I definatly wont be in the position to pay for one for a while.

What time frames are we looking at for these? And will they be available at a later stage?

Also if this has turned from an EOI to a group buy, can I move it to the group buy section?

Well the deal is I am personally going to be paying for the mould and will incorporate that into the price when getting them made.

I would like to get a group of at least 5 people confirmed when manufacturing the first batch as the mould is in the larger part of half a grand. That said, they dont have to be paid 100% but at least maybe a $50 deposit to secure things for me (me own personal outlay)

At this stage, I think this is still an EOI as i dont have moulds or any product to provide anyone, but once i have the mould made and everything is ready to go, i have no issues with this thread being moved.

Before I release the product to the market, ill get a prototype made for me, get it sprayed and installed and then post some pictures on the net. THAT will be when the Group Buy will start.

Time frame?

- 2 weeks to copy the spoiler

- 2 weeks for me to get around to getting it painted and installed

- 2 weeks to arrange payments/production

- 1 week shipping

So really, id love this EOI to get as much interest as possible.

Also, what is your vote for above?

its pearl white ey?...eeeyyy? :);)

Just out of curiosity where did you get it and how much was it?

PS - I personally like the 2nd red style wing more. I think for a car with sideskirts, it really sets it off

No argument from me, I like the red style as well. And side skirts really help to keep the road grime from flicking up off the tyres and onto the side of the doors. Functional yet sporty!

As per a previous post, the wing cost $22k - came with a free car.

Actually it was a gift from Ernie, along with the baby seat, the timing belt, the 3' cat back exhaust, the cargo floor mat, the cargo mesh barrier, the cargo slide out cover and the stamp duty...I am not sure if he is still in business now, prolly went broke after that deal.

Alex, PM sent on freight options

That said, they dont have to be paid 100% but at least maybe a $50 deposit to secure things for me (me own personal outlay)

Then count me IN!

Time frame?

- 2 weeks to copy the spoiler

- 2 weeks for me to get around to getting it painted and installed

- 2 weeks to arrange payments/production

- 1 week shipping

So really, id love this EOI to get as much interest as possible.

That time frame is do-able

Yeah the red one, if I had to choose between a squarish finish or the pointed one, the pointed one wins every time, much neater look.

HURRY HURRY HURRY! Buy your stocker wings, get them while they are HOT! :D

    • ADHD in all form isn't about "can focus, or can't focus" or is hyper active or isn't etc.   It's all a dysregulation. Either time feels to be stationary, or time just vanishes in a split second. We are either under focussed on the task at hand (as we're over focussed on our surroundings) or we have no idea an atomic bomb went off beside us as we're so hyper focussed and locked in on things.   Not to mention the rapid fire thought process. What it takes a "normal" process to think up a solution to a problem, ADHD will be able to give you 5 different ways to solve the problem, and the pros and cons of each. While we can be highly impulsive and lack the ability to "control ourselves" we can also become paralysed with the inability to make a decision for ourselves. While most of us have an OCD like requirement for perfection, we lack the ability often to remain focussed to get things to a perfect state. Those with undiagnosed ADHD as adults, can often find the last part actually stops them ever attempting to do things that they have the ability to do, as the reasoning is often "if I can't do it perfectly, it's not worth doing"   As for projects... Ha ha ha, I still need to take the other half of my wall trim down in the Fiance's office so I can paint it. Need to finish digging and running the back yard drains, my R33, getting the Ninja bike registered (now being sold), the moped project, fixing either of the lawn mowers so they're reliable, along with a myriad of other things.   It's why I've been going through lately and just being brutal and clearing projects off that I won't actually ever complete. IE, moped will go to the tip, or be given away, bike is being sold, Subaru project being sold, some parts for other projects given away. Or I've been making myself focus on one thing at a time, by ticking off the smallest quickest ones first.   There's also a reason by our mid twenties we seem to be "know it alls", as we've all been down some of the weirdest and oddest rabbit holes when you follow the dopamine trail. It's often also why we're more a jack of all trades, but not a master of one.   However, pretty much all of my hobby projects, in one way or another, all come back around to automotive. That's my zen area.
    • Remember reading about this not too long ago. been for sale for a long time  this is like when the wife says you need to sell the car so you put it up for a ridiculous price no one will pay
    • You are perhaps suggesting that it is not a super car? Well....it's not an AU.
    • Dropped the MX5 of this morning to get the hardtop colour matched and some PDR done, they are also going to give it a buff to remove some "stubborn" swirl marks and light scratches in the clear coat Over the last few months the poor little thing has copped some shopping centre car park abuse, I try to not park in them, but hitting Westfield's a few times over the last few months has taken its toll, nothing really bad, but enough of a trigger for a "while we're in there" thingie  Once it's back and all the one colour, with a few dents and mark's removed I'll give some of these products a go and see what they're like
