i was out driving last night in the 33 (exhaust, pod, intercooler, 12psi) and an mx5 came up beside me, guy had the roof down and looked over at me. thought, ok, lets go. anyway this guy took off, got a good lead on me and i couldn't bring him back in.

i thought these things were slow fwd cars?? how did this one go so well

MX5's are rear wheel drive, all of them, do you mean MX6? They're FWD.

MX5 Turbo conversions very popular, so are 1UZ-FE V8 conversions.

The turbo convo expands their talents from an already highly entertaining sports car to also include being a missle.

Bugger all weight helps with these things :D

it had a badge on the back said 'SE'
MAZDA MX-5 SE

1839cc, four cylinders, in-line, belt driven DOHC, four valves per cylinder, variable valve timing, cast-iron block, aluminium alloy head, turbocharged.

124kW (ECE) @ 6000rpm

206Nm @ 4500rpm

possibly the light weight is the factor. it being a convertable means less metal and glass weight. there is an almost 400-500kg difference between the cars. dont feel too hurt. find him again and go for a track race. odds are you'll beat him.
