Manual? Both reverse lights not coming on? Might need to check the reversing switch that screws onto the gearbox. It may need replacing infact.

It is on the drivers side of the box, and up the side. You need to take off the gearbox mount and have the box on a jack so you can move it to the side to change the damn thing. My lights weren't working at all until I changed it.

What a pain in the ass...

Where did you get the switch from? Genuwine from nissan?

cheers

you can usually spray heaps of degreaser/contact cleaner/wd40 into the switch and it will clean the oil from the gearbox off the contacts so it works like new again.

just make sure the pin isn't warn down. (it shouldn't be, but a common problem oh high km neutral switches in these gearboxes)

Yeah, genuine from Nissan. About $30 I think?

I can't imagine that it's anything else, but try removing and cleaning it as RB30 suggests, but if that doesn't help, it's not too expensive or hard to replace the switch.

Ok I had this problem... The solution was so easy I couldn't believe it when I found out.

I had the exact same problem and one night I accidently tapped my reverse lamps only to find it flicker. So I took it out and found out the cable had been rubbing on the rear bar support bar and ate away the rubber so it was shorting to the body. Not sure where the reverse lights are on the 33 but if it is anything like the 32 it's worth a quick look.

They're withing the whole brake lamp assembly, and it is thoretically possible for one of the wires to short on the metal body-clips that hold the harness in place. Worth a check I guess!
