Sammie
hey i was wandering if its illegal to not have the led break light in a rear spoiler ? and to cops pick up on it alot cheers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/113376-rear-spoiler/ Share on other sites
Sneeza
Holden bring these out stock on the SS commo's spoiler. My series 1.5 also has the led lights in the stock spoiler. I think there is a compliance law that says you have to have a brake light at eye level (in the spoiler or those ones in the back window). Pulp
I wouldn't have thought so, isn't it as long as your normal ones on the car are working it's ok? cause you can get spoilers without brake lights, so whats the diff? But I spose if there's a rule about being eye level then I don't know! Ant97GTR
Yep according to ADR's you have to have a high mount brake light. If you are fitting a spoiler without one you have to fit one in your rear window. I don't know how strict cops are with this in this state. Sneeza
Why dont you look on www.dpi.wa.gov.au - I am sure there will be something about it there, or even ring them and ask? Then at least you get the right answer from the right people. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/113376-rear-spoiler/#findComment-2090760 Share on other sites
Ant97GTR
Liz....it doesn't matter what the states rules and regs are...all vehicles on ozzie roads have to comply with the ADR's.....and adr rule is as my first post. That link might have the ADR's as a link though..... Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/113376-rear-spoiler/#findComment-2090796 Share on other sites
Sneeza
The original question was - is it illegal to have LED lights on the spoiler. If they ring the department they can still tell them the rules, regardless of state or federal - WA still has national standards to comply with. It would be alot more definitive than asking people on the forums. Another one to try http://www.dotars.gov.au/ Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/113376-rear-spoiler/#findComment-2090875 Share on other sites
Pulp
Yeah I'd go by the DPI road rules if you wanna play it safe in regards to cops, cause ADR also says that you can have fog lights on and WA road rules says you can't! Ant97GTR
Pulp....I don't know where you are getting your info from but its wrong. The ADR's rule over any reg the state has......States do not have regs that contradict these...the cop in question doesn't know what they are talking about.... Yeah I'll have to find it again, I read a whole list of rules re: FMIC etc etc and that I'm sure was one of them, about fog lights. I'll see if I can find it. Pulp
Hey ant95GTR, I found this thread, but theres a bit about FOG lights. "Fog Lights - *if they are standard with the vehicle * Australian Design Rules (ADR) says that you CAN drive with your fog lights on BUT the Road Traffic Code says that you can NOT drive with your fog lights on." http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=99471 What do you reckon? Ant97GTR
The full ADR rule on fog lights actually specifys that fog lights *whether aftermarket or std* can ONLY be used in foggy conditions. Therefore the RTC rule isn't contradicting that. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/113376-rear-spoiler/#findComment-2091194 Share on other sites
