Neil,

Definately come along to the cruise... bring as many other mates as you like too... (that blown Bimmer sounds intruiging) :D

and yeah, we're charging $140 for club membership....

if we didnt have to worry about CAMS affiliation (yes, the Fast Fours Forums Car Club IS a CAMS member), public liability insurance (which is what really puts the membership fees through the roof), and also merchandising etc, then im sure we could offer free memberships... but, we've gone about registering the club through all the official channels, to ensure that members will be secure and represented in the proper manner... im sure you can imagine, its not cheap.

we also have the backing obviously of Fast Fours Magazine, as well as already having set up discount scemes from over 50 businesses throughout Sydney & NSW...

we've only been up & running for a bit over a month & we currently have over 40 members, who realised the benefits that the club could bring to them, especially in terms of the money saved in discounts on products & services... our President has already saved nearly $4000 on work done to his 180SX. (which makes $140 in membership fees seem kinda small huh?)

several other members have already made back their membership fees plus more in the discounts theyve recieved... some of the workshops include C & V Performance, Tuffy mufflers & Powerplay Imports. :)

theres also several members who drive rotors also... and already a few Skylines too... :D :burnout:

seriously though... if you really have trouble coming up with $140 for membership, we've also just introduced a "Lay-By" plan, where you can pay a minimum of $10, then have 6 weeks to make up the rest... just to make it easier for those (like me) who find it hard to save any money at all... :D :shake:

but by all means, i urge you, come to the cruise with us on the 7th of July, meet me & a few of the guys (& girls) and have a fun day... we're not gonna expect everyone who comes on the cruise with us to join the club.

Like i said originally, its gonna be big, so dont miss out. :D

im running a Silvertop 4A-GE, which comes factory from Toyota with a 20Valve head...

but yeah, essentailly youre right... the cylinder head was developed for Toyota by Yamaha. basically all Toyota engines with a G in the engine code have Yamaha developed cylinder heads.

heres a pic (notice how many lobes on the inlet cam on the left):

    • Yes.  The only scenario I can imagine when the answer isn't yes, is if you drive like there is highway patrol behind you at all times.  If your car currently runs, enjoy it and keep saving. Better costs more, keep saving until you can budget the better ECU. It's worth it.  Nope. Plenty of us making >300kw on unopened motors. Mine is unopened and makes about 350kw if I turn everything up, its fine (lots of caveats here, how the car will be used/abused, how long you expect the engine to last between rebuilds, how has the engine been maintained prior to coming into your ownership, etc etc).
    • Sorry just wanting to clarify, at this power goal, which should I be going? Also, More info regarding suspension, the rear upper camber arms were used to get the camber back to i believe around -0.5 ~ -1 degree (@ Road and Race in Rydalmere), I forgot the exact figure, but ALOT less camber than what it came originally which was like -2.5degrees. Are the traction arms still recommended? The bilsteins from SydneyKid, they've got 400lb/in fronts & 275/in in the rear, revalved to his specs. Intercooler, I'm just having a look at some on Rakuten.jp and some other japanese sites. Might get something from back there, GReddy, Blitz or HPI, all crossflow. Looking at roughly $450-$500 AUD + shipping... Theres not many choices except that chinese branded Justjap unless you go for blitz return flow. Yeah, only downside with Haltech is the price ahhaha, so expensive, and with all the sensors if I go that route... $$$$$ yeesh. Are headstuds/gaskets needed for <300akw?
    • Haltech fanboi reporting in. Buy the Haltech!
    • You can try shoving a borescope down there to see what's up.
    • I could see someone trying this to save money on oil changes.
